This poll is for the 2008 Elfball Legacy team. Please only vote if you plan on contributing a figure.
The color poll will follow team selection. Feel free to suggest a color for inclusion in the next poll.

| Gnolls,Valkyries and Razorbacks are included in the poll however with them in, it exceeded the number of options allowed in a poll. So if you would like to vote for Gnolls, Valkyries or Razorbacks, please state your vote in the thread. |

I'm not going to participate, because my painting skills aren't good, but I think for the first time it would be great to do the Pharaos Team, because they are the best miniatures Impact! has.

I would argue either tied or second best to Siringit. _________________ I lurk in the shadows, eying your games.

Mephisto (and anyone else). This is not a painting contest. It is just for fun. If you wish to participate, don't let painting anxiety stop you.
And personally, I've never seen a "poorly" painted FF team. Sure some aren't as good as others, but it seems to me that FF players generally take pride in their mini's and table top standard to a FF player is usually higher than other war games. I'm sure your painting is better than what you think.
Now space marines... that's something different. Seen one of those painted with latex house paint (no joke). The kid was only 11 at the FLGS and he just couldn't understand how people got such fine detail. The question "how many guys can I paint with a gallon?" 3 of us older guys bought the kid a decent brush and 3 paint colors and gave him a lesson :). |

I HAVE! I knew a guy and he painted everything the same way.
Step 1. Black primer layer
Step 2. Dark base coat heavy dry brush.
Step 3. Mid tones drybrushed over that.
Step 4. A light dry brush of Bleached Bone for highlights.
No other details. They looked AWFUL! We were all nice about it at first but then he started talking smack about being a better painter than my brother in law and me. So everyone in the league told him that he sucked at painting and it was because he wouldn't listen to anyone's advice.
After his smack talking I told him that his minis all looked like they had cobwebs all over them.
BUT that said, if you can color inside the lines you can make a great mini.
That's really all it takes is the ability to go slowly and apply one color to one area at a time without being sloppy. Anyone can do it. If you start there, the next time you paint you just start painting inside of smaller lines. You don't need highlights or shadows or dipping or black lining or any of that stuff. Just start with the basics and master them.
I bought a copy of Heroquest a while back and the hero minis are one of the best paint jobs I have seen. The guy applied only about 4 colors to each fig...but the tightness is impeccable! There isn't one micro millimeter of slop on these guys. They look great and they don't even have eyes painted on! _________________ I lurk in the shadows, eying your games.

I voted Siringit -- I agree with Dark Lord that they rank next to the Pharaohs as they best teams out there. And with so many different figures available for it, there shouldn't be any probably getting plenty of variety and different figs for everyone. (If they do win, though, I call dibs on a Warthog or Cape Buffalo, since I know I'll happen to have those two handily lying around! ;) )
@Mephisto -- I'll just echo the others: legacy teams aren't painting contests, they're only about the effort to take part in a community project. If you're able to touch brush to metal, you're in -- the skill level of the result is immaterial on a legacy team. That, and it's almost always true that you're going to be your own worst critic (speaking about anyone in general, there), so like Ted mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you're not half as bad as you might think you are.) |

I forsee a very close run battle between three teams...Thunder Hammer, Pharoahs and Siringit.
I have some Thunder hammer Dwarfs I could part with one of. I think I have a spare Anubis Thrower somewhere. If we're going to do Siringit can we limit the poll to within a couple of weeks so I can get Gavin or Draco to to bring a model to Tulips for me? |

I would love to join in. I was a little worried my painting would stand out like a sore thumb, but if that's not an issue.
I would vote for siringit. From what I have seen of them, they are going to be at a different level compared to nearly every other f.f. model available. |

Just get a furry one! Even a beginner can dry brush fur. Do the warthog, the buffalo or the baboon. Surely you can drybrush brown fur.
And don't be so self conscious. Legacy teams aren't about amazing paint jobs. They are about FREE MINIS! _________________ I lurk in the shadows, eying your games.

I set the poll to run 10 days. Is that short enough? I think this is day 2 or 3.... |

I'll be leaving for Amsterdam in twelve days time, so that's fine.
Looks like I should dig out that spare Anubis as well...just in case... |
