Okay switching over here ... I'm moving from Impact! Prez to FF consumer:
My biggest problem with the Orc from Bilbao (OfB) figs is the cost for the minis .... man they are expensive. (I do the same level of wincing when looking at the Goblin Forge catalogue ... more power to both of them for being able get buyers at the prices they charge).
I also wish both companies would list the height in mm to the eyes of their figures. Its really tough to understand a figures size and if it "works" for what you have in mind without a scale reference.
===
Now Galak is moving from FF consumer back to Impact! Prez for my next comment ....
===
I'd also like to comment ... that OfB using the words they are using on their website .... like Troll Slayer and Snot.ling. They are really begging to have Grandma Wendy send them some very unfriendly letters from their legal team. Those are protected Grandma Wendy terms ... one needs to be very careful as the one thing Grandma Wendy really defends are its protected words.
I wish these guys (OfB) luck ... but they are really painting bullseyes on themselves at present.

Agreed, I don't really like the OfB minis for the price. The same thing kept me from the Goblin Forge Minis, though having finally seen the Centaurs in "the flesh" I'll probably get a pair at some point. Mind you, 'some point' is way down the line as I'm currently engaged in painting my backlog of minis and no-one is releasing the kind of minis I really want to paint atm.
I think the Man-Wolf mini spoiled me, I keep pining for a complete "undead" team in the same b-movie style. |

| I agree with fen, the wolfman and man-wolf figs were great. I to buy two of each to be used for my Norse and Necro teams. I would love a Necro team of the same flavor as those two figs. |

I agree they're expensive, but they're soooooo good.
I'm getting them whilst I have the money spare. _________________ What the hell am I doing on a mini's forum? I DON'T PAINT!!!

You have no idea how happy that would make me. Even if it's just something like one of each of the following a Frankenstein's Monster, Skeleton, Zombie (Perhaps with interchangable heads and arms, not fully multipart but some customisation), Armoured Skeleton, Armoured Skeleton carrying Ball, Mummy and a Ghoul (who could look a bit like the thing from the black lagoon.)
I'm sure you can figure out what positions/teams I'd use these for. |

And Fen ... you would want a runner type fig ... or a thrower type fig for the armoured skeleton?

I echo Tom's comments, I like a lot of the stuff I see from GF, OfB, but the prices are astronomical (i.e. more than Grandma Wendy in some cases )..
we try to do business as fairly as possible to keep the hobby alive and the company (just) above water...
I guess we have a different objective in why we are doing what we do..
for me, it's all about the hobby, that's why I joined Impact and that's why I spent the hottest April weekend ever inside painting.. _________________ in this company my painting skills are limited at best.. |

I never saw the OrcFromBilbao guys and, so, don't know how they have chosen their minis price but, concerning GoblinForge, I think their prices are a bit too expensive 'cause of the small quantities they order. And the price they pay to the sculptors and to the company which make the minis. That's why they have chosen to make Micheline in resin and not in metal 1 year ago (not to be too expensive) but Fantasy football minis fans wanted metal minis. So, according to me, you can't compare their price policy with Grandma Wendy price policy.
As customer, I understand what you say about GoblinForge and OrcFromBilbao prices, and I appreciate Impact! prices policy, but I think Impact! is more profesionnal and more well-organized than GF and OFB which may be just very small companies with just one guy taking care of everything. I'm really not sure they are just some kind of vultures taking fantasy football minis fans' money as vampires drink their thralls' blood. And, reading your last posts, I may understand you think something like that about them (but english is not my mother tongue so I maybe didn't really understand what you wanted to say). _________________ http://lorie-raffarin.labrute.fr/ |

WOOOOOH! ... Never said that ... never implied that!!!
Saying that something is expensive does NOT mean that I think the company is gouging its customers AT ALL!
It just means they are expensive. My shoes are expensive and I wince everytime I purchase a pair as they cost $300 a pair (150 GBP) and I've never thought once I was being gouged by them.
I'm sure their company model drives the prices and for their expenses that the prices are fair ... I've never thought otherwise. However this doesn't mean that their company model doesn't create prices that make me avoid ordering the figures myself.
So please note that there is a huge difference between saying something is expensive and saying someone is overcharging (miles and miles of difference).
I have nothing but respect for anyone trying to make their own company in a niche market. Its not easy.
