Well, with GenCon quickly approaching, I decided to finally get my team together for the tourney. Thanks to a conversation with the guys from Gen Con 3 years back where I said I'd do a Valkyrie (sp?) team next time I played there, I didn't have to stress over it.

Though, I will disappoint those that were there on the name, instead of Absolute Zero -  my typical score - I decided on the Philly FrostHearts.

But, I digress

Anyway, I really wasn't happy with the chunky trolless or male Ulfwerners for the team, so I set about looking for suitable minis.

I was able to find something roughly to my liking for the Ulfwerner - which would just require some GS TLC - but, couldn't find anything for the Ice Troll.

So, with about 2 weeks, I've decided to give a shot at sculpting up a trolless for the team (that and convert all the Valkyries so no two look alike) and get everything painted in time for GenCon.

I have started the Ice Trolless with a rough skeletal framework, and have done the face for her.

I figure if I post here and set a goal in public, maybe I'll make it before GenCon (despite being oncall for the week )

Anyway, enough blathering, here are the first pics :

As a little side bonus, I'll try to get some shots of the Ulfwerner up - maybe some of the conversions too

Crappy Photos - especially from the front

I'll try more when I take the next series of WIP shots of the Trolless.

Boo, I want Absolute zero.  It will be good to see you again, good luck getting the team ready.

Looking forward to seeing Team Xtreme (and the rest of the gang) as well - one of the main reasons I return every year

Yeah, I hate to dissapoint, and I tried Absolute Zero, Sub Zero and Below Zero, but I just couldn't come up with a logo that I liked    Not that my score is likely to be over that regardless of what I name then, so, no fear when you play them

So, I headed in the direction of Cold Hearted Biaches - which lead to the Philly FrostHearts.

As for the Ice Trolless :

Adding leg warmers and chainmail briefs to the bulked up legs -and chopped the mini in half so I can work on both at the same time.  Doing basic arm musculature and fingers now - this is a real pain

Ok, got a hold of a better digi-cam and also got some work done on the trolless.

I wound up breaking her in half to be able to work on both halves (and the head) at the same time - to help avoid smudging stuff I've gotten to a level that I like     I also snapped off the right hand to rework the angle of it.

For the photo I mounted the head onto the shoulders to get an idea if the size fits.

Thanks

She is more then a little rough around the edges - the speed at which I am trying to get her done (and her being my first 'full' sculpt)  has had me moving on to new areas while the old are still not fully cured.

Now that I am on to the more detailed stuff, the progress is going even slower (not to mention having to go to work tomorrow, so, no more being able to sculpt over the course of the day).

Once the next batch dries, I may assemble all the bits and take a side by side with a Valkyrie so you can see the size diference - even with the trolless slouching, she is definately a big girl, just hoping that she comes off more athletic then chubby

Worked on her a little more - put her together to see how it is shaping up :

(Note - the upper body is narrower then the lower, as I have yet to add the shirt)

and a size comparison to one of the Valkyries  :

Heh - the hair is temporary - something to help me figure out where to position the head and such not, until I can get to the hair itsel.  I also plan to make the hair quite a bit bushier, and add the front braids like all the other Valkyrie models    By the end, it will all be my own work .

I don't think the fangs could handle casting - they're a bit out there

I am interested in working with you in future as you obviously have talent, but I agree the face would not stand up to casting at present - perhaps you could do a Mk II version at some point in the future..?

I'd be honored, and I didn't even have to ply you with a few cans of Strong Bow this time

If it turns out nice enough that y'all are interested, I'd likely start from scratch and do a cleaner one - rather then the rush job.  If I have enough time, I'll be trying to add a chain to her one hip with a string of penalty cards on it, possibly a polar bear skull on the other hip, and some of the rune stones to help solidify her connection to the Valkyrie models.  But, I'll have to be quick if I want her primed and painted and ready for Gen Con next week
