I think its best put here even tough its not an *offer* yet, more or less questions about potential offers. :)
long story short, unexpected bills and bad timing on my bank's demand to get a positive saldo on april 11nd have gotten me in a bit of a stressfull situation. basically comes down to that I somehow need to earn at least 800 euros before april 11, excluding all my current commission payments I expect to be getting before that time as well.
so Id rather do some extra stuff besides looking for new commissions, rather have a bit extra than a bit short. (besides I was hoping to be able to attend salute this year :))
wich brings me to the point of this topic, besides selling some old miniatures (mostly rackham.) wich I will put on ebay this weekend, Im also going to sell original drawings, among wich some of the deadling originals (keep in mind tough you dont get any rights with the originals!.)
so to check interest and if it's worth it (because usually I rather not give away originals.) some questions for you all.
also these questions are just for gathering information purposes, so your answers wont be used against you.
1 Would there be interest in originals ?
2 Would the best way of action be doing it trough ebay ?
3 If trough ebay (a medium Im not very familliar with.) is it best to start at looooow price ($ 1.) or a minimum I want to have returned ?
4 in the latter, any opinions on reasonable starting bids ? (just opinions, it doesnt mean I have to listen to it ;)), keep in mind that trough a bit of a *bad listener* thing from my part the deadling sketches are not sketches but detail filled drawings the size of an A4.
5 Deadlings and most others are inked only, would interest/worth increase after soft pencil shading ? or would it be better to offer that option ? (*if you want the drawing to be pencil shades add $XX after winning the bid.*
thats it I believe.
hoping to get some answers, but feel free to ask questions too.
thanks in advance

I would have to believe that there would be an interest in the originals, i'd be very interested but would expect them to exceed my budget.
Have you looked into having prints made? May be easier to sell them since they could be sold at a lower price, but with multiple sells off of each picture you can still make a nice return. _________________ Zlurpee Forums

as for prints, Im planning on those, but the prints will be colored etc.
however I cant find a good way to deal with prints except trough non-dutch sites wich 1) means I have to invest in it first and 2) means they probably wont be helpfull in the current situation.
as for originals exceeding any budget, I wouldnt know, I have completely no artist contacts with experience in that or in this field alltogether. so thats why I doing a bit of research on it, not necessarily on whats its worth alone, but also what people are capable of offering to see if it can help currently.
also even if you cant afford it, if you have the time please look over the questions, because currently I have not a single clue or indication on the hows and whats, but Im expecting it wont make me rich at the moment ;) |

I think there probably is interest! the drawings are very nice, I don't know the usual prices for drawings like this but I think they should get you some serious money!
99% sure they're to expensive for me but I would prefer to buy them with the pencis shadings, it would definately increase the value for me.
on ebay you should watch out with low starting bids because if there is very little people bidding on the auction the price won't go up high, better to have a minimun selling price. ( thats how I bought a 350 euro snowboard brand new for 100 euro's!)
but I don't have experience in selling anything on ebay, just buying..
Good luck with the money problems!!

Make colour copies at your copyshop, number and sign them and try to sell these as limited edition prints.
Might work...
Though I am not sure whether you'd get 800 total with that. _________________ "Redfang turns up and all hell breaks loose" |

and Im very thankfull for that :)
as to the others, apparently, even tough not likely originals are potentially difficult obstacles considering copyright issues, as in say a random stranger buys from me the original of a deadling sketch, impacts becomes $$$ rich on that deadling, that stranger can cause hassle.. he would lose any legal matters in the end, however the progress to such *victory* seems tough enough in the first place. as Im the better be safe than sorry kind, I definitely wont be selling deadling originals or any original wich is in use or will be in use, especially not trough *unpersonal* means like ebay or the internet. this takes away most of my originals (because those that were not commissions usually are made with a purpose in mind, of wich none Im going to rule out just yet :))
that said, there's some leftovers tough wich are ok enough to sell but of such nature that I dont mind the risk, will put those on ebay soon, but as these have none to do with impact I dont think I'll further discuss them here :)
on the deadlings however, Im probably going to do prints myself (at my dayjob I probably have good printers and a plastification machine.) so the questionaire from now on switches from originals to prints.
because the same questions still apply. as I dont have experience nor know much about selling prints either (as a matter of fact it was on a forum, perhaps here, that I learned about people interested in art prints in the first place :))
I like the idea of making them in limited quantities, so that if the dice of life are rolling to my advantage and I score some fame, those prints suddenly become valueable. (keep in mind Im only in this since a year ago, most of those well known artists are several years ahead of me ;))
but how limited should a limited edition be ? (personally I was thinking a number like 12 each, 3 on ebay, 3 wich I give to impact to use in promotions/anyway they like and 6 direct sale/carry around to conventions or something like that.)
and how would interest fare on prints ? what price range do you expect (colored) prints to be ? what size is preferable A4 or A5 ?
going to see if I can edit a poll into the first post here.
hope people are not bothered by these posts ? |

With print runs that small you may want to have one print, that you do a larger print run of. For the people that can't afford the price of the limited ones. _________________ Zlurpee Forums

Or test a few prints to see how they come off, then offer them for some price, then make the number sold and perhaps some extras et voila
