The registration can be slow because of all the SPAM targetted at the site.

I'm not sure if anyone has JohnnyP's email address, but if they could PM you with it - that would help approve the process.

I know (having a forum of my own) that I get lots of pretend signups and unless they are accompanied by an email I just presume it's SPAM.

It's got nothing do to with being slow (most registrations are activated within 24hrs), and don't PM JonnyP, as he doesn't have anything to do with the day-to-day running of the site.

It's got everything to do with people not reading and following instructions.

From the free-to-read announcements section:

If you sign-up for TalkBloodBowl, a couple of points.

1. Please have a bit of patience.  To cut down on the spam on the forum, all sign-ups have to be checked by a admin before the user is authorised to access the site.  This can take anything from a couple of minutes to a couple of days, depending on who's available and online to check.  Please do NOT get a friend to PM all the admins minutes after you sign up (you know who you are!). In the same vein, don't email the webmaster address minutes after signing up.

2.  It seems that the automated email, mentioned in the email when you sign-up, that tells you that your account has been activated is not being received by some/all of the new accounts, so if you do sign-up, please continue to check to see if your account is active by trying to log on.

Any account that has been activated, and that has not been signed into at least once in the first 7 days will be deleted as a suspected spambot account.

Did you read all the post?  I'm guessing not:

ok, and can you explain to me  why in the email of confirm of registration there is this phrase? :  "Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another email when this has occured" , if you read this try to log in immediately or wait for the second mail before to log in?? the problem is that the second mail is never arrived...

so if this not more the process of registration and activation, it would be better change the phrases in the automatic email of confirm of registration..

I'll try to register again now and I'll try to log in the next seven days, and I want see what happen. Sure I'll not pass my life on pc tryng to join that forum...

which, if you'd read the announcement like you said you had, you would have seen.

No it isn't impossible, because as I said earlier, this is in the FREE-TO-READ Annoucements section - the section you can see wheter you're logged in to TBB or not, and the one that says "This forum is open to read to all users, logged in or not. Important: if you have just signed up there is an important post here for you to read."

Oh, and account activated over an hour ago.

I dont care what you say Darkson it doesn't always work out like that. When I first tried it about a year ago I checked everyday for 7 days and yet my account wasn't activated. My friend had the exact same trouble.

Well, all I can say is that we (the admins - mainly myself and Draco) normally activate accounts within 24hrs (if not sooner), and delete them after 7 days.  I've had people emailing me to say they've done all that, and yet I've checked their accounts, and they've been not logged into.

Ideally, we'd like the forum upgraded to php3, but only one person can do that, and that's the site owner.
