Okay I really think this roster needs to be looked at.
It's totally Dullsville, man! By contrast the Black Rock Dwarves are waaaaay more fun! I'd really like to use my Dwarf team but the roster is dead boring...now I'm not saying it's over or underpowered. Just a yawner. Their tactics are pretty straight forward and aren't really exciting at all. It's a shame cuz the minis are so cool.
What about:
| Code: |
# | Position | J | M | T | D | S | G | Type
-------------------------------------------------
0-6| Dwarves | 5 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 4 | Defender
0-4| Hunters | 6 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 3 | Hunter
0-2| Throwers | 6 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 3 | Thrower
|
An alternative, but more radical roster I think would be:
| Code: |
# | Position | J | M | T | D | S | G | Type
-------------------------------------------------
0-6| Dwarves | 5 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 4 | Defender
0-2| Berzerkers | 5 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 4 | Hunter
0-4| Runners | 5 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | Midfielder
|
Can anyone poke holes in these?

I like the single stat line for the team. I actually think it makes them stand out more than having multiple positionals. There are lots of other teams one can play if they want variety.
I think dwarves make a nice starting team, because it is easy to keep track of their stats and they are pretty stout.
I also think it could lead to some good fluff about how the dwarfs of this world are all equals and single minded in their tasks. And possibly how they rely on Gnomes to do some things that they might think are beneath them. |

Have you played multiple games with or against them? IMO they are as boring as their Grandma Wendy cousins. _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Boooo, why did you have to start another thread instead of contributing to a 56 page monster. You're hurting the cause
Anyway, just to say that I quite like the Thunder Hammer dwarfs. I think they're much more interesting than teams like the Siringit although I probably wouldnt want to play them for more than 5 games straight (butyou could say that about most elfball teams). _________________ Elfball is for girls...... and pigs apparently, I know which one I am :D |

Hee hee I forgot about that thread! That one was started based on observation, this one on experience...perhaps I was biased going in?
Anyway, as far as not playing more than 5 games in a row, I totally disagree. What makes you say that?
Have you played games with skilled teams? It's awesome! The combos are fierce and the games speeds up tremendously! _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

I havent had the chance to play with skilled teams, most of my games have been against brownrob using the java client although sadly he seems to have disapeared Doom on him for doing actual work and getting a life
While I could definately play more than 5 games of elfball I just dont think I'd feel like using the same race over and over. Many of the races have alot of overlap so as my ideas about tactics etc develope I tend to move over to a race which suits it a little better... or I'll get bored of using the same strategies and go off on a tangent trying out a totally different team. _________________ Elfball is for girls...... and pigs apparently, I know which one I am :D |

I do agree, I don't like playing against Granny's Dorfs. But I did enjoy the one time I played as EB dwarfs. It was simple to keep track of everyone and everything was interchangable.
They might not be your style, but that is the nice thing about EB, there is a team to suit everyones style. I don't think they need to be changed, because I see that their simplicity actually creates more variety in all of the teams as a whole.
I still need to play more games, so most of my comments are theory rather than expeince based. |

)I havent gone away you know!
But yes, lots of extracurricular activity here hehe
But yes, soon, I will be on hols, and maybe be able to get some games in, we should try some premade experienced rosters as well to see how easy they are to use in the tool Ive just been playing rookie games as of late
Oh yeah silly, Eric was looking for possibly a little assistance with the mod, have you looked into playing it by PBEM. I also realise there is no cheat detection built in. But I know you are an honest fellow (except when you say you dont foul! )
Even though Grumpygrizzly and I created the mod, you are a far superior teacher than I am, with using the mod etc
Did you check out the walkthrough Eric? |

Erik is... Darklord?
I'm happy to help out but I dont have a clue about PBEM using the elfball client. I guess I can have a go at figuring it out. _________________ Elfball is for girls...... and pigs apparently, I know which one I am :D |

neither did any of the other alias 's...
On topic.
Leave the races alone. They all have a place. Some less each person's cup of tea than the rest.
