At gencon my wife was amped about Wizard's Gambit. She bought it and we finally played it last night.
We played 3 games in about 9 minutes. Really fun little card game! Just strategic enough to keep me happy but still easy enough that just about anyone 8 years old and up could probably play it.
The cards had some great arcane looking symbols on them and really nice illustrations. Noble effort for a company's first outing.

Oh and there's a bookshelf games review and he makes a point that we also noticed. It's a "take that" type game but you never feel like you're going backwards. The game is always moving forward and there's none of this stuff where you have 8 victory points and suddenly you're dropped to 3 points and the game time just extended for another 30 minutes.
We really appreciated that.
Like I say, we played 3 games last night and all of us were relatively new and we were done in 90 minutes. (Although I should point out that our first game was only about 15 minutes long.)

Might have to check that out. Our roleplay group needs a few little back-ups for when someone vanishes for the night and we're too few (or can't be bothered).
WoTC's "Three Dragon Ante" is popular, that's always good fun.
