Well done, thats just too damn cool!

1: Where do you store the batteries? (In the oversize base?)

2: Did you wire in a switch also?

Yes, 2 pancake batteries are in holders under the base.  I didn't have enough time to make it look hidden (I would have probably drilled out the left leg to give additional real estate, and used a taller, but narrower battery.

I have a SPST switch in the base as well - reinforced into place with superglue and styrene rod preventing movement from the turning on/off of the switch.

The really nice effects from the deadwood can only be seen when it's slightly dark in the room - it shines down onto the pitch from the mouth opening and the eyes...  You can see the effect on the table in this picture:
