3 way and no not that way...Just thinking elfball would lend itself well to a 3 person game with a slight board modification. Here is my idea, each team would have four guys instead of six and the goal is to put the ball in someone elses goal circle.
This is just a rough pic.
PS I am not really all that great a photo editing and no copyright infringement was intended by this. I just thought it would be easier to show than explain in words.

This would probably work out fine I think.
Setup: everyone that isn't in the faceoff has to be in their own rover circle.
Faceoff: nobody can be on a white line, highest successes wins. In case of ties handle it like normal (roll it off).
Stairs: make sure everyone has the same number
Passes across the center: in the current version, that single empty square in the middle makes it possible to get a ball through there. It's not too bad if you line it up. But I'm not sure if those 3 lines in the middle will really mess any center passing up. Have to test it. Maybe drop the lines back to the yellow faceoff circle. On the other hand there is a shorter distance to go, so maybe it's not a big deal.

I forgot about the stairs but that would be easy to put in somewhere. I was thinking one guy in the face off (not on a white line and of course no mosters), One player in the defender circle and then one in each of the rover circles in your 1/3 of the field, may not be on a white line or on a yellow line.
One other rule, as long as your team is able you can only field a maximum of 2 of the same positional. Example: A night elf team could only field two imps unless 3 of the elf positionals were injured or the team only had imps. This wouldn't reall affect the regular dwarfs though.
