So has anyone come up with any really clever gnome team names. There is a guy I play with that is going to be buying a team soon, and is trying to come up with a cool name.

A musical one for you: 'Gnome Ore Heroes' after the Stranglers' song 'No More Heroes'. You could then name the players after band members, album titles and so on.
