Brett Favre is a moron.He could have retired in Green Bay and lived like a king while the cheese-heads there sacrificed virgins to him...but he chose to do this stupid retire/un-retire, look-at-me nonsense.
I can't wait to see the Vikings play in Lambeau. They'll probably win but the crowd will be entertaining.

To be perfectly honest I could care less. Its just like what Joe Namath did, 5-10 years from now, no one will care that much.
I almost want to get a purple 4 just to watch people freak out.

well, as a long time viking fan, i gotta say i don't really care for him. but that being said, he's looking pretty good

That was a hell of a pass and catch at the end of the 9ers game...
I still think he should have retires two seasons ago (or stayed retired I suppose) and at least kept the respect EVERYONE had for him...but you have to say...he can still run a two minute drill like few others.
Of course, had the niners not been crap on third downs FBrett wouldn't have had a shot. 0-11 on third downs loses you games.

I still respect him, and like, and think he's still one of the best playing the game and one of the best to have EVER played the game.
After a long season he's pretty beat and thinks of retiring. After the summer off he still loves the game and wants to play. I understand that football has been his life forever, and the idea of retiring at the young age of 40 from what you have loved and lived for is hard.
As long as he can play, Viva Bret! Joe Montana had to retire the hard way also. It was painful for his fans to watch him setting the bench. Bret isn't even setting the bench. More power to him. I wish I was him.
If you don't like him then this, retirment issue, is just fodder/verbage for you. Get over it.

I can't comment on how he's playing (don't watch enough NFL to comment), but if he's playing to the best of his ability, and his best is as good (or better) than other QBs in the league, then more power to him.
People keep saying Ryan Giggs (of Manchester United for you non-soccer fans) should retire, and yet last year (at 34) he played one of his best seasons in years, and this year looks like it might even be better.

I don't think he should have retired until he wanted to...but I think he's stupid for not staying retired in Green Bay.
That town loved him. He was a hero to those folks and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say he could have been mayor just by putting his name on the ballot.
Going to NY didn't hurt that too much. He still had a lot of karma built up...but going to the Vikings?

Ditka went on to coach New Orleans but the folks of Chicago still go to his restaurant and still worship him. Ditka doesn't even live in Chicago but he's loved there like a hero.
Favre flushed all of that down the drain. He won't be opening any restaurants or whatever business in retirement. He won't be a spokesman for anything, and he won't be getting any of that stuff from New York or Minnesota either.
I don't give a crap what people think about who he's playing for. All I meant was he was a fool to give up all that stuff in Green Bay, just to play another year.

He's probably made more than enough to live on for the rest of his life, so giving up a resturant or suchlike is probably no big deal. One thing I do see in interviews from sportsmen and women who've retired, from all sorts of sports, is that they wished they "could just have had one more year at the top" - if that's what he wants, then more power to him.

Nope. He threw that all away to play one more year. Doesn't seem like a smart choice to me. Hence the title of the thread is "Favre is a moron." and not "Favre sucks at football."
