Challenge for homeless animals - can you help? (NO MONEY!)All this takes is a bit of your time ... not any money.My wife and I help with caring for shelter animals until they are ready to be adopted by new families. We've worked with a LOT of different shelters and the bottom line to me is that it really is difficult to find one that I consider top notch. In fact up until a year ago ... I had never worked with a shelter that I would openly ask folks to help like this. My wife and I did it for the animals ... not the shelter. The current shelter we are helping is beyond incredible compared to any shelter that I've ever dealt with. So here is all you have to do to get them some extra money. A site is sending support to Shelters if all they do is get folks to endorse them and you can do it once a day. NO MONEY ... just a web click. To do it: Copy and paste this link into your browser http://www.theanimalrescuesite.co...e/shelterchallenge.faces?siteId=3 On the Shelter name area cut and paste this name: Humane Society for Hamilton County Then select the state IN and click Search. The correct shelter will come up and you can Vote for it Then you'll see a picture of an animal ... type in the name of the animal and your vote is in. Took me about 20 seconds. For anyone willing to do this ... thank you. The event goes throught Dec. 14th. So I might bump this a few times. They give weekly prizes as well so even a burst of support is awesome. But anytime you go in and vote for the shelter you have my thanks for helping the first shelter that I've worked with that I love how they treat the animals (all the time) AND how they treat their volunteers (which is where most that I've worked with fail). They went from 919th to 227th in one day overall and our now at 8th in the state (top shelter in a state wins a prize as well). THANK YOU guys!!!! That's awesome. Hopefully a little bit more and they'll break into that top 10. Or better yet ... win the weekly award! Galak |

The tricky part is being able to see the daily ranking but not know the hurdles you are trying to cross. So in one day we all got them from 921st to 227th and from not being in the top 10 in the state to 8th. Day 2 ... 227th to 125th ... 8th to 5th in the state. But its a moving target. We don't know how many votes we are generating compared to the folks in front of us. So we moved 694 day 1 and 102 on day 2. If pure math were to predict ... tomorrow we'd be at 110th. But I have confidence in the volume that gamers can kick up. So I'm betting we break into the top 100 in the competition tomorrow. Now ... what I'd really like to see is us win the weekly award. I'd honestly be pretty darn happy if all this effort we know got them one of the awards. There are: 11 $1,000 weekly awards 54 $1,000 awards for winning your US state (50), D of C, Puerto Rico, and 2 for Canada 1 $10,000 for 2nd place 1 $25,000 for 1st place ==== As for having a tough state to win in. Yeah .. I looked up a couple other states out of curiousity to see what place their top shelter was currently in: Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico = 1270th Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Control in Alaska = 547th Washington Animal Rescue League of D of C = 693rd (however I doubt I'd want to live in any of those places!) ... ;-) Compared to: Happy Labs Rescue in Indiana (my state of course) = 1st 2nd Chance Animal Rescue in Illinois (state to the west of me) = 3rd Schnauzer Rescue Cincinnati in Ohio (state to the east of me) = 16th Humane Society of Huron Valley in Michigan (state to the north of me)= 10th SBRKY Small Breed Rescue of Kentucky in Kentucky (state to the south of me) = 22nd So ... I live in an area that has some great shelters. I still think we can take them (at least for a weekly award!!!!)

A quick update to this. The Shelter in now 92nd overall and 4th in its state.
I think we have a really good chance of winning the weekly award if voting stays strong over Saturday and Sunday. So please vote today and over the weekend so we can try to lock down this weekly award! Thank you! Tom Anders President |

We are now only 32 national rankings slots away from being 1st in the state which is a $1000 USD prize for my shelter.

Checked this morning. Hamilton Humane - 35th in nation Current 1st place in state group - 33rd in nation ONLY 2 SLOTS LEFT TO 1ST PLACE IN STATE!!! This is the final week of the contest. Find friends, find forums ... find anyone you are willing to bug just once and see if you get get those votes we need to take the $1000 prize. Thank you for all your help with this.
