Chinese Democracywell, I haven't noticed a lot of commentary on Gn'Rs new album, but being a long time fan, I bought the CD anyway despite my fears it was going to be awful..
man, am I glad I did.. it's brilliant! well worth the decade long wait and sounding very much like they did in their Destruction/Illusion heyday..
Axl's clearly not as angry as he once was, and the music is a little more mainstream/melodic than some of their early heavier stuff, but I for one am a very happy Gn'R fan...

All true.
I made a boo-boo on the "Listening to now..." thread becasue I made the mistake of listening to it quietly for the first time. All that did was highlight the differences in style and made it sound weak.
When I turned it up though... what a difference actually being able to clearly hear the whole production made. It's actually a really good album, and I'm glad I got it. (Infact I didn't turn it off for 3 days afterwards )
Oh, and the Kerrang! review is a load of bollo... rubbish.

I used to read it years ago, now I pick it up at work and see whats out when before putting it back down again Back in the day it was alright, now it panders to a generation of music which, for the most part, doesn't excite me at all. I do buy it for the occaisional cover disc though (the Metallica and Iron Maiden tributes for instance).
