Deadling and MagnetsOkay since most of the minis have their base weights and magnets I have noticed a problem with my Deadlings and their tiny bases.
The bases were too small for base weights but I put the magnets on them and now I have a problem because the Deadlings are too lightweight to keep from being pushed and pulled around by the other players! I had two minis that we were joking and saying they were making out all game.
The opposite happened also. I player with an opposite polarity got too close the Deadling would pop back or change its facing.
So my questions are:
1. Has anyone else had this problem?
2. Has anyone else bothered to trim down the base weights for the small bases? Did it solve the problem?
3. Should I just say "screw it" and re-base them on standard bases?
BTW: On the subject of base weights. They are wonderful and between the base weights and the felt the minis feel like chess pieces rather than FF minis.
The only SMALL criticism I have is two fold but still minor.
The base weights need to be easier to separate the halves. The large tab needs to be snipped off to separate them but then that leaves a tab that has to filed because they fit so snuggly.
IMO the solution is one of two things. You could make the tab thinner and with a little taper so the pieces could be twisted off; or you could shrink the circumference by 1mm or 1mm so tabs, and flash wouldn't affect the fit.
I love the base weights...I just hate needing to file and trim a piece of lead that I'm not going to paint. I'd love them much more if I could just pop them off the tab and glue them in.

We are also looking at possibly stock 1/16" disc magnets which I'm sure would solve your problem. However not sure on the 1/16" at this time.

At one point we thought about carrying them as a product in the store but decided against it.
This would probably fix all your problems DL.

My "super magic I love this thing more than anything else like them" snips.

Over in the UK/Europe ... you can get them from Heresy:

Description from Heresy site:
| Quote: | HTT06 XURON TRACK CUTTER SHEARS
Let's get one thing straight - there are a lot of clippers around, aren't there? Most of them are about £5 or so but when you use them to clip simple things like brass rod of a thick limb from a miniature, they either shatter and take your eye out, suffer huge gouges along the cutting edge of the clippers and require huge amounts of effort. In my constant and slightly bitter attempts to find a better quality set of clippers, I have come across these wonderful Xuron tools! This particular one, although a higher price than most other clippers, is now on my personal list of absolutely-essential tools, so I thought I might get some in to share with you lot. It's designed for slicing through brass model railway track and features two cunning design tricks: firstly, the actual jaws of the clipper do not meet in the middle, but are ever so slightly offset, which halves the amount of effort required to cut through your intended material (No, really, it does! I almost giggled out loud when I first used this on some metal sprues) and secondly , the clever spring release system is a lever device on one of the arms - no snapping off and making your clippers really stiff and slow to use! |

Cool thanks!
As for the magnets... the 1/8th and the 1/16th magnets are smaller in diameter and therefore less powerful? Sounds good.
Hmmn. Anyway, nothing I said is much of a problem. Just little suggestions.
The full size figs with magnets and base weights with felt are really nice...they are a big hit around here.

Awesome news on the smaller magnets -- I've been meaning to get around to ordering some smaller ones to be able to do things like swappable mutations, but hadn't gotten around to it as the teams that would use them are stuck in the middle of my priority list. But that's the same reason that, if Impact! will have them before too long, I'll just wait and order from here rather than somewhere else.
As for the Deadlings, I was planning from the start on putting mine on regular bases.
As for the weights and the trimming issue, I have the same ones that Galak's talking about and I wholeheartedly agree -- they're a must for any modeller/converter. I wouldn't even want to think about what building my Impact! multi-part human team would've been like if I hadn't had those snips.[/img]

Slightly off topic but,
How about this guy as a Deadling potions marker? or apoth? (EDIT: From Rackham)

Do you have the link for this fig? I didn't see it on their site.

It took me awhile to find it as I followed a link off of TBB then wandered around.

I'm not sure it's Wyrd now that I look at the location of the mini. Any body have any ideas?

Ritual (the painter of that mini) lists at as Rackham on his CMoN post of the figure.

Thanks. It is a Rackham figure. Actually it comes as three different poses in a blister.

He looks good and the one on the right looks like an easy EB conversion...although since they're Rackham he's probably twice the height of a Deadling.
