Deadling Tactical advice for a NoobHello all
I'm awaiting delivery of my copy of Elfball and am looking forward to my first few tests when I introduce the game to my group.
I like to play bashy teams in FF and like the look of the Deadlings in Elfball. The models are excellent and the stat lines make them suitably bashy.
I have a number of questions.
What should I consider when setting Deadlings up for a Face Off?
Is a Deadwood better for defending the Goal? or best placed near the edge of the field in order to shove opponents off? Do you field two at once?
I've already been told that caging doesn't work in Elfball. Are there any standard tactical plays for bashy teams that I should know about? What teams are hardest to play against?

The best advice I can give is that shoves are better than tackles. Yeah yeah, tackles are the path to injuries but just like cages don't work, neither does winning by attrition.
If all you need to do is move a player's front 3 (tackle zone) off of the ball then a shove is a better choice.
As far as the treeman...He can defend the goal circle but he definitely needs back up. His movement is certainly a handicap for goal defense.
But I can't offer much advice with Deadlings since I don't do too well with them. I know that shoving and shoving out of bounds works better than tackling and I know that with so few ball handlers you need to be careful and thoughtful about positioning.

Place one Deadwood in the guardian circle in front of your goal.
Get a bribed ref.
If any opponent with ball gets too close to the goal move the deadwood into your goal circle.
I know heīll be banned from the game when the ref catches him but usually itīs enough time to get other players close enough to attack the ball carrier.
I play Deadwoods and I really like them
Good choice.

Hmmn. That's a naughty strategy. I like it.

Thanks for the hints.
One thing I need to remember is that as long as a player has paces of Jog left he can take further actions and if he goes down it's not a turnover.
Initially, it's hard not to keep thinking in BBowl terms.

This is the one I have trouble with as its trained into you that once the Thrower throws the ball ... he's done. Not so here.

Not something I have problems remembering - I have to remind myself that a thrower can't move in FF!
