GenCon

Who going?

Who is drinking?

Where are we drinking?

Anyone going to any killer parties? (Mike B's Room Party?)

Let's drink beer and play loads of Elfball! (or other games...I'll bring Last Night On Earth or Guillotine or Kill Doctor Lucky if anyone is interested.)

Well, I know you don't know me from Adam, but I am going.  I will be working for Stratus Artworks, makers of Doctor Wizard's Patented Elevation Indicator.  We hope to have our fun little boardgame available too.

Drinking, I am all for it!  Scotch or good vodka are my choices.

Never been to GenCon before, so this will be exciting!
Dark Lord

sjmiller I have seen you around. Probably ticked you off more than once, I'm sure.

This is my first time too. I'll be sure to add your booth to my list of "must visits"

Who wants to help me horde Heroscape exclusives?
Thom

My last GenCon was 2004 and I really wish I could go this time. The irony is that I tried to drag Dark Lord along with me then and failed!
Dark Lord

Yeah Dark Lord is only going this time because he's earning his keep!

However I am already planning to attend next year on my own (probably without the wife also) but it may shift to Origins instead.

Heroscape exclusives?!    Where do I sign up?  I have enjoyed the couple of times I played it.

You haven't done anything to annoy me Dark Lord, at least as far as I remember.  Oh, and I have been on here a little, from time to time.  I even started doing a personal proofreading of the game rules, mainly for myself.  I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to rulebooks.  I hope to pick up an Elfball game while I am at the show.

Stop by and say hello!  I think it is going to be an exciting show.

Please do ... we've got a booth to pay for.

I just realized that I have to get my Elfball teams painted!

Crap! I better quit being so fussy with Tom's minis and get mine on the table!
Justin Kase

I'll be there - hoping to actually learn Elfball this year
Thadrin

Can I beg a favour of someone who will be attending Gencon?

Privateer Press will be selling these:

I would like one. Buy two and send me one of them, and I'll pay for both (plus shipping it over to me).

If you get a chance at one that is...I expect there to be a bit of a queue, but I may as well ask.

Cheers.
Norse

I'll do my best mate, I want to buy a PP paint set in any case...
Dark Lord

PP Paint

I can sell you some PP paint if you want it cheap!
Lychanthrope

I'e been thinking about trying some of thier paint.  Thought about buyinga small set.  What do you know Norse?
Thadrin

P3 paints (been using them for over a year now IIRC):
The colours are great, though I have heard some complaints about coverage. I've ot had that problem.

The Metals are very mixed. I've had no trouble with the Silver colours, but the bronze/brass colours tend to be VERY thick and almost unusable. Rhullic Gold and Molten Bronze are paticularly bad. In all cases with the metals, adding an agitator and shaking heavily is advised.

The Washes are nice. More intense than the new Grandma Wendy ones, which means different usage. I swear by P3 armour wash for shading all sorts of things now, not just metal. The flesh wash is also good. I prefer the Grandma Wendy washes as glazes to give highlights more subtlety, or for a more subtle shading effect.
Norse

I figured I would give them a go.. I've been using Grandma Wendy paints for over 20 years now (holy crap I feel old   ) and have slowly gone off them - the ones in the old circular pots from about a decade or more ago were the best (you can still get these from Coat d'Arms) but I reckon the P3 stuff looks interesting..

Thads, you know you can dilute thick paints with water, right?  Almost every paint in my collection has been diluted (I just add water straight to the paint pot and mix until I got the desired consistency).  Of course, part of the issue with the Grandma Wendy paints was the dreadful lids which don't close properly, resulting in your paints drying out.  Come to think of it, I don't think I use any paints as they come in the pot.. almost all of them have been diluted, some heavily over the years...
Dark Lord

Compelled to throw this out there again.

Go to Hobby Lobby and buy the $.85 craft paints. Anita's, Apple Barrel, or Americana. Just give them a try. Buy red, yellow & blue. Or try a big giant bottle of black or white. Or get some metallics.

You'll save money. It's damn near all I use.

$.85/2 oz. vs $2.99/1 oz. is a simple formula to me.
majortusk

Norse, I will have my paints with, if you want to have a go with em when I am at the booth, you are more than welcome.

I have a ton of the P3 paints, and old Grandma Wendy(coat'd arms) paints.

You should test em out before buying :)

I am pretty happy with my mix of paints now, foundation, new Grandma Wendy washes and P3 colors. good stuff.
Dark Lord

You will be there too, majortusk?

Looking forward to meeting you as well!
GalakStarscraper

There's thick...and then there's these.

TBH I doubt it would help...they seperate quite heavily in the pot, hence the need to shake them heavily with a bead or something in there to get them usable. Once you have them mixed most of them are OK. In one case - Radiant platinum - I'd rather it was a little thicker in fact.

The bronze/brass colours...gawd knows. Maybe Tusk can demonstrate...
Norse

Thads, I got your fig mate - shoot me an e-mail with your address and I'll ship it off this weekend..

in return you can paypal me the dosh..

Xtreme

I tried to get one of those myself but they were sold out already.
