That saddens me greatly and make me glad there are great companies like Impact! out there for us FF fans to go to.

With this new revelation, what is happening to FUBBL? and other online or even local leagues with Grandma Wendy references on their websites.

It also makes me want to never, ever buy anything from Grandma Wendy.  FF is the only reason I would buy something from them and now they have lost even that.

Now, I am not against their need to ensure their trademarks are not used inappropriately, I feel they could have approached me in a more friendly manner to investigte the purpose of the site and discover that I only wanted to provide a hub for dicussing fantasy football globally. instead, they immediately enter heavy handed.

If they truely believe the donations have contributed to me becoming a wealthy person or that I have made enough money to give up a proper job they are sadly mistaken. The small amount of money donated has gone to pay for the upkeep of the server (when I used my own hardware and hosted it at home) or towards the costs for hosting with an ISP. In short I have been vastly out of pocket to provide TalkBB rather than the other way around. I thank all those that have contributed as it has helped TalkBB survive.

I have been asked to:

Immediately cease and desist from any activity which infringes Grandma Wendy's intellectual property.
either remove remove your website or the reference to 'fantasy football' in your website name.
Remove the donations button from the page.
Confirm by return that you will not infringe Grandma Wendy's intellectual properly rights at any time in the future.

Now, I could simply remove Fantasy Football from the domain by renaming it to TalkBB.com, but that means buying a new domain and time spent sorting everything out. Bearing in mind I hardly visit TalkBloodBowl.com anyway, I can't really be bothered with all that so have decided to let it die. Therefore from Sunday 8 November 2009 www.talkbloodbowl.com will cease to exist.

Should anybody wish to take ownership of the source and contents I will be more than happy to prepare it for transfer, although this will not include the domain name. I will also have to ensure the recipient will not use DB content for anything other than to maintain the forum as part of an existing fantasy football site. This is to ensure passwords and emails do not fall into the wrong hands.

Thank you for your support over the years and for making TalkBloodBowl.com what it is today. Without you all it would have died all by itself many years ago, regardless of donations.

Grandma Wendy will never ever gain another penny from me, ever, or so help me God. Their loss is Impacts gain. In one fell swoop I reckon they just lost a heck of a lot of business. It will hurt them too when they dont realise it. If a TBBer had kids who also game. Never mind the amount of lurkers on the site who see the whole picture I can see a lot of people boycotting the game.

TBB is a great site to find tourneys and leagues, painting advice etc and if the online resources and community is cut off then who is going to buy a new team to try at a tourney if they cant find one?

It seems to me that its one step to looking at fumbbl, as they have the trademark on the frontpage etc. Perhaps sales of the computer game are poor and they are trying to foolishly funnel all online users into one location

Is the NAF next? What about FF.net? Im sure there will be some sites that

I wont even give them the steam from my ... well you know!

What can I say about Grandma Wendy that I haven't said a million times before?

It's a bunch of morons striving to be assholes.

Oh and I'm glad to see plenty of newcomers to the Grandma Wendy boycott. Welcome my friends, you'll see how easy it is to not buy Grandma Wendy minis very soon.
You'll buy a few minis from other companies and suddenly realize that you don't have to file, snip and reshape pieces just to get them to fit. You will realize that the sculpts you thought were great have awkward bits on them to cover up bad sculpting, and you'll see that other companies have a thing called customer service...so if you do buy a bad item you get a new one for free! It's amazing!

I'm continually baffled by  how many people are still willing to be a loyal Grandma Wendy customer after hearing, reading and experiencing the the complete contempt Grandma Wendy has for her customers and employees. It's truly remarkable. As is the complete delusion  the insane prices and horrible treatment is a small price to pay because her figs are of such a higher standard than the rest of the market.

It may have been true years ago, but it sure is not true now.


Also, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if all of this is just about trying to generate more traffic on their website and possibly Cyanide's.

Makes me wonder if action is being planned for the PBeM client and FUMBBL.

Which means that changing everything over will only result in another C&D.

Been told from reliable sources that this isn't about the content of the sites sent letters ... its all about the domain name.   Remove "blood.bowl" (remove the period) from the domain name and they are all happy again.

So yeah ... moving the site will solve it ... but I was concerned DL that your thought was correct and that a new site would not solve anything but it appears that it will for now.

So it's yet another dangling carrot for Bl00d B0wl fans to think Grandma Wendy is about actually release product or create a Bl00d B0wl site for some reason...when in reality it's just an excuse for them to piss on their fans.

We don't know yet if FBB (french equivalent of FUMBBL) has received such a letter from Grandma Wendy, as FBB webmaster seems not to be available these days.

But a french game website called Enefel (it means Nuffle in french) received it. That's surprising 'cause Enefel is an original game, this is not exactly a FF game even if it takes place in FF world. In Enefel, you play the role of only one FF player (for example a human lineman).

So, that's only to say Grandma Wendy seems to enter in a new international crusade. It seems they want to forbid all websites with a domain name with FF, Nuffle or any of their trademarks. That may be to "clean" the web and be sure all the new buyers of their PC Game who wants to play online will play on their official FF game website and not on other websites...

There's also Blood Bowl, but that's just being pedantic.  

Of course, the admin of a social forum I'm on likes to play with random, off-the-wall word filters sometimes just for kicks and giggles (e.g., a discussion of goth clubs in which "vampire" gets replaced with "cowboy"), so a variety of ways around them were quickly discovered. I don't do that on here as a general rule, as I realize Galak has legitimate, necessary reasons for his filters... but since this is a legitimate discussion about a specific company and their actions regarding the actual name of their specific game, I thought it wouldn't hurt just this once.

I bet the suits at Grandma Wendy still have no idea that Bl00d B0wl players buy Warhammer minis for conversions.

This is only good news for Impact tho, so it pleases me. The more fans that Grandma Wendy treats like crap, the more people will migrate to other companies.

I agree fully DL... it just does not make any sense for one to kick her best promoters in the nards when all they have done is help HER make money.

I still love the product, but starting to despise the company that makes it.

Keep up the good work Impact! because you're about to start seeing more of my money!!!

All I can say is how disappointed I am in the actions they have taken against the very people that try to help them.

I always felt like I had a small hand in what Tom was doing his resource site, considering thats how my site came about. Infact most of the 2nd ed mini pictures he had on his site came from mine :) It just saddens me that they want to take our hobby away.

I have overlooked complaints over the years, sat on the sidelines and watched from the upper deck. I have always said its not that bad, but I really think my fanboy days of grandma wendy are over. They make some beautiful models, but the policies, and rules they have made have been consistently getting worse. How does one survive on alienating their fanbase on a regular basis. I have seen our Warhammer Fantasy on a steady decline in our stores. No one wants to deal with the power creep that comes with that game anymore. now this whole bbowl fiasco. Whats next? are they gonna start telling people to get tattoos removed because they have some gworkshop artwork?!

The real problem i think with gworkshop is that it is not run by gamers, its run by a league of investors.

makes me think they are cleaning up the name before they pawn it off.

I had only 1 c&d from gummy workshop, and that was for having the blue kick off chart and red match chart from 3rd edition on the site. I removed it right away. Otherwise they never had a problem with it.  I am surprised I have not gotten a C&D for my the name in the title. I probably will now.

and the whole threatening that they will remove the rules for Bbowl if someone makes a mini to represent a hole in their mini line is just crazy.

why wouldnt they do that for Fantasy?!? hell they dont even have minis for army books they have released years ago, Seekers of Sleezish, The Chaos Shrine etc.  There are companies that make models to fill those holes, why do they seem to have to bully the Bbowl people?

is it because the largest gworkshop tournament ever for one of their games was for bbowl and not wfantasy or w40k?!

I actually thought about it some days ago... as i heard the rules were coming out early november, i was going to look if they was out. But i had no place to check about news about the game. All my previous sources had either moved or shut down due to grandma wendy.

The place i ended up looking for it was this forum, as i don't have an account on talkfantasyfootball.
