Goblin-Ref WIPAlright, my second green is almost finished. I have to change a few things like the card in his hand (which is too small) and maybe his ears, but still I think he turned out quite nice.
What do you think?
The bag in his hand is full of bribe, of course...

Wow! That looks great. What an improvement.

Thx Bonehead!
I just looked at the pictures again and have to say that they don´t do him justice. he looks much "cleaner" in reality. I´ll try to get some better photos done once he´s finished!
Oh, and I forgot to mention his actual size: He´s 23mm high in total!

He's very cool! Lots of character. You'll be doing this professionally before you know it.

Much better than anything I can scuplt, so please take this in the spirit it's intended.
However, the arms look wrong to me. perhaps it's the pics, but there doesn't seem to be any detail in the arms, and no "bone structure" - for example, the arms seem to curve, rather than bend at defined elbow.
Also (imo)the face could do with some more definetion, especially around the eye area.
I do like the idea though.

Thanks for your comments and criticism, guys!
@Darkson: You´re right about the arms; they´re not finished yet. I´m also planning to add a bit more detail to his face.

Hey, thats the point of Redfink posting here I think. Positive criticism is the best thing that we can give him.

Here´s the next set of pictures.
I changed a few things in his face to make him look meaner. Then I added 2 earrings plus one nose-ring.
I also gave him elbows and added some muscles to his arms. Now I have to clear him up. But apart from that I´d say he´s almost finished.
What do you think?
And do you think some people would buy him if I found someone to cast him?

Oli

Greetings,
Oli | Well ... one of Impact!'s reasons for being around is to help with just these type of questions.
Let me check with the other partners. Should have an answer by Tuesday (I think.... not sure when Norse gets back from the EuroBowl).

As promised, here are some better piccies. I painted him grey because my cam seems to have less problems with that colour...
Hope you like him!

Okay ... something to note for future work that you do.
Never paint a green that you are hoping to have cast. It really messes with the casting process A LOT. This is because the paint melts under the extreme heat of master casting and this will cause the figure to cast incorrectly in the master mould.
I have to check ... but I'm honestly not sure if we can cast this figure now unless you can strip the paint completely off the green.

Oh, damn! I didn´t know that.
I though painting him up (in purpose to get better pictures) would increase the chances to get him casted, but now they seem to have decreased...
I´ll try to remove the paint asap!

One quick query.. Will the earrings in the left ear cause any problem in the casting process??

Yeah they will ... but before I start bringing up items like that ... I wanted to see if the partners are on board.
Lately I've been giving green lights to stuff too quickly ... so just waiting to cross the t's and dot the i's this time so I keep peace in the family.

Thanks for responding quickly on that. Knowing little things like this will help many amateur sculptors who wish to have their pieces cast in white metal!

Knowing little things like this will help many amateur sculptors who wish to have their pieces cast in white metal! | Its an easy enough fix ... one of the changes Redfink would have to make if this figure is to be cast would be to make the circle for the earring smaller so that it is touching the ear and doesn't have the whole in the middle which will rip the mould.
We could also have a problem with his red card arm that would make it necessary to cut it off and have the figure as two pieces (not sure on this and this is something our caster can help with). So yeah... it is one thing to learn to sculpt ... its another thing to sculpt something that can actually be cast and I'm still learning the do's and dont's of that side.

[Ewan - Back from family business]
Yep, the earrings as they are right now are a casting problem, no way the mould can make complete circles like that. If you could re-sculpt that part - so either the earrings are tight to its ear or something.
Nice sculpt though and yeah, keep it away from paint if you would like to cast it.

Now we have a fig that I will buy! Nice job Redfink. I liked your first sculpt, but your second is already 10X better!
