In BrugesAnyone else seen this film?
Awesome! I loved it!
It's billed as a comedy but it's definitely a dark comedy...if I'd call it a comedy at all. It has funny parts but overall it's drama.

Yeah, awesome movie, very dark (but funny). Maybe not for everyone though (just like Bruges itself ).

I loved the part where Ralph Fiennes is looking at the map with all the marks on it and winding streets...that was me in Inverness! The locals gave the most assuming and incoherent directions and the map looked like a bunch of snakes eating each other.

Bruges is a sh####le
It was a bit much for the wife, but I really enjoyed it, as did a lot of my friends. Not a film for those offended by naughty words though!

True. IMDB says that it averages like 1.18 F-Bombs per second.

I also liked it a lot!
But have some doubts at the end... he survived didn't he?

**** SPOILER DISCUSSION ****
I think that's left purposely ambiguous. The whole movie is about Judgement, Purgatory and Redemption. If he does survive he will live his remaining years in Bruges, a place he calls Limbo so whether or not he survives is up to the individual viewer and meant to be discussed. At least that's how I see it.
The Boschian symbolism is quite subtle but the whole movie is sort of tied to his triptych painting The Garden of Earthly delights.
Painting: In the first panel God presents Eve to Adam.
Movie: In the first act Ray meets Chloe.
Painting: In the second panel is a huge scene of strange sex and weird Earthly pleasure.
Movie: In the second act both Ken and Ron reveal their sins and engage in debauchery. We also see Chloe betray Ray and even the dwarf turns out to be a racist prick.
Painting: The third panel is Judgment Day and depicts all manner of horrible and bizarre tortures. The Judgment of Man by God.
Movie: In the third act Harry tracks them down and lays Judgment on them for their crimes. Then true to his moral code, he offs himself.
Ray meanwhile being both good and evil is sent to Purgatory.
At least that's how my art history background reads it.
