It's a boy!

My new little buddy.

I named him Mitchell because he's slow and he eats a lot.
GrumpyGrizzly

He's a cutie DL. My daughter thought he looked like a "speed turtle".
Dark Lord

What's a "speed turtle"?
SillySod

oooooooh, nice.

We have a tortoise but hes not nearly as brightly coloured. Is that a terrapin? If I'm wrong then its either a turtle or a tortoise but I dont think it looks like either of those so it must be a terrapin!
Dark Lord

Yes, it's a terrapin. It's a Red Eared Slider which are pretty common in this area.

My grandfather in law works at a mental hospital and one of the patients had smuggled him in and gave it to him as a present. He brought it home and was planning on releasing it in a park that is about 2 blocks from our house. I told him not to because that can be lethal to them especially young ones.

I have friends who have one already but they didn't want another so I'm a daddy.
Torg

Congrads!  He's a cute little bundle of joy!
Redfang

He sure looks a lot like you do

According to my daughter, it's a turtle who looks like he's built for speed. I would assume it's because of his low profile and "racing stripes"
Norse

red eared ones go fasta..
skatingtortoise

/me furthers plans for tortoise breeding.

they are just so

i am helpless to their chelonian charms.
Dark Lord

I'd prefer a bearded dragon...less stink, more fun behaviors but I also can't resist a reptile in need.
SillySod

Tortoises, turtles, and terrapins are all lovely creatures, second only to hamsters and trained war elephants in quality as a pet.
Thom

I disagree, machinegun carriage Crocagators are far superior pets and war critters!
Dark Lord

Why not sharks with frikkin laser beams attached to their heads?
Thom

Cause sharks are limited to water!
Nyarlathotep

Land Sharks with laser beams?

Are they...ill tempered?

Oh god, I'm quoting Austen Powers...1997 called and it wants its lame humor back.
