Logging onto a Vassal GameQuick instructions for those of you that are just starting out and trying to get this to work for them against other people. I would recommend getting used to the tool before trying on line, but go for what you want to do
1) Open your game. It will ask you if you want to begin a new game online or offline.We'll first go through the instructions for connecting from the online game 2) This takes you to the server that shows "Active games". Under it either join an elfball game or enter the name of a game in the "New Game" box You will be moved into this game area. Wait for your opponent to come into your game room. 3) Now this is important: Right click on your opponent and select "Synchronize". Both of you must do this or the dice rolling window will not work. 4)Now Under file select "New game". choose your side (which honestly isn't important at this point, but will be in the future). Now you are in the game with your opponent. Close the network window (it's the arrow buttons third from the left with the tooltip of "Show/Hide the server controls"). Congrats, you are in the game. If things get unsynchronized, simply resynchronize the game again. edit: It seems that if you want to see what your opponent has rolled, or influence it, you need to also open your dice window when he makes the roll. This became needed after the window became closeable. |

The instructions were for a live game, not a PBeM game. For a PBeM, vassal has good instructions on their website. I should have been more specific than I was. Sorry about that. |
