More Pitch IdeasThe Death Bowl tournament is going to an all Death Bowl format this October (used to just be a final round of Death Bowl), and its also the Year of the Ogre. As part of getting my team ready for this, I've just started painting up a Death Bowl board with 40mm squares. Especially for matches with 2 or more Ogre teams, the larger squares will be critical.
I've also started painting up a Death Cup board -- a 7's version of the larger Death Bowl. Each long arm of the cross is 10 squares x 20 squares including Endzones, the Widezones are only 2 squares in. I'm also painting this with 40mm squares, but 30mm would also be good.

Forgive my ignorance, but do the opposing sides play against each other or is it 1 vs 3 all around?
What do you mean by the Year of the Orge? You know there are going to be several Orge teams coming this year or Orge teams get a "bonus" as each team has a rotation in the "year cycle"? (Chineese calendar-ish)

The usual Death Bowl rules are a free for all. You have to score in the endzone opposite your starting position, but you have to fight through everybody else who's in your way to get there. When you throw a block or foul against one team, adjacent players from the other two teams can decide if and who they want to assist. There tends to be rapidly shifting alliances through the course of the game. As soon as one team scores, that ends everybody's drive.
Last year, the Canadian Death Bowl Tourney introduced the Year of the Halfling, with special inducements to encourage Fling teams to show up, and 4 did! This is the Year of the Ogre, and there will be special inducements. Since I won last year's door prize which was an Ogre team, I feel morally obliged to paint it up and bring it this year. The "year" theme is to encourage the lower tier teams to come out for the tourney.
