Norse spookishly presents...

well, a few weeks ago I sat down to paint a few zombies and werewolves so that my existing undead team could magically migrate to a necro team... (yes, those zombies and wolves are still unpainted )...

anyway, as I was sitting there, I thought it might be good to convert up a quick counter from some plastic zombies.. about 1 hour of work later and hey presto...

quite good I thought.. but then I thought I could do something much more amusing..

then I realised I needed 3 counters to represent my 3 RR.. so I went a little nuts on this one..

and

then I noticed I still had a quite rare hunchback model from WH Quest that would be great as a zombie.. so I started painting him.. then I realised he would be PERFECT as a zombie referee.. (because I need 1 ref model per team I own, right )....

anyway, in total about 10 hours of work (ironically MUCH more time spend on these than the on-pitch players!) and I still have 4 zombies and 2 werewolves to paint.. god dammit!

Hope you like 'em..

Nice!

funny to see the progress! very funny and cool RR counter!
The grass on the head of the 2nd RR is a very nice touch!
The face of the 3rd is awesoome, the half bone, half skin! and the skin of all the zombies is nice, just not very fresh anymore
the face of the hunchback is cool! nice model!
Definately a great adition to the team!

I particually like the greys on the gravestones. Especially the first one, it looks great.

Of course, you should get back to work on the actual team. Don't get distracted with the extras.

the zombie skin takes me hours and you compliment the drybrushing I did..

fen

Well I do what I can to keep your self esteem up!
Norse

it's OK, I have viagara for that..
fatgoblin

nice! I particularly like the one hanging off the stick! I might have to steal that idea...
Thom

Just found this thread and I have to say I love that ref! Excellent mini for the task! Well done sir!

First: Those are awesome! Great job!

Second:

What really made me laugh is the progression...I do this to...the first one is a simple little conversion. A 'warm up' if you will, and that leads to a second, slightly larger and/or more complicated thing...and then before you know it you're totally sidetracked.

Welcome to my like.
Norse

problem is I'm a starter, but not a finisher.. I have hundreds of converted models for Nergal, Chaos, CDs, Dwarves etc etc but once the conversion is done, the desire to paint them is gone..

after a while I do go back and paint them, but without the initial enthusiasm that kicked the project off..

I have 4 converted rat-ogres waiting for me to write rules for a game I call "basket-case" but I lost the urge for that too..

I have a tendancy to do this also. Drives my wife nuts. So lately I've just convinced myself not to even start, then I don't have half finished projects. She's REALLY POed now.
Dark Lord

Guilty!

I have so many started projects that I never finished.

Part of the problem was due to sleep apnoea I was constantly falling asleep and always feeling tired. That made finishing anything pretty tough.

Now that I have it fixed I don't think all of my procrastination was due to sleep apnoea.
Norse

how did you get it fixed Eric? I also suffer from it.. once or twice I have almost choked to death in my sleep, but I'm too scared to see a doctor..
Dark Lord

I actually won a radio contest. Weirdest thing ever.

I'll share the story with you guys in public but be aware that I am not looking for a religious debate here.

Okay, I have been suffering from sleep apnoea for most of my life but it wasn't until I quit smoking and gained a lot of weight that it really started to affect me. I was in denial about it for a long time but when I fell asleep at the wheel of my car and jumped the curb at about 45 mph I decided I had to do something or I was gonna kill someone.

But what to do? I don't know how much you know about health care in the USA but without insurance you're screwed. I was in college and only working a part time job and I couldn't get on my fiance's insurance until we were married. So I did what any normal Christian would do. I prayed. I don't pray often because I'm of the belief that I don't need to ask God for things, He provides what I need. But here I felt like I needed to speak up.

So here's where it gets weird. I was in my car and flipping stations on the radio. I settled on a station that I don't normally listen to and when I got home I turned off the car and went inside. The next morning I was running late and when I got in the car the first thing I heard from the morning DJ's was that they were having a contest for the worst snoring. The winner received a sleep study, and a free CPAP/BIPAP machine.

Well, Steph recorded me and I won hands down. Then I come to find out that the company sponsoring the contest was a Christian company.

So was it a coincidence? Yes it was, but in my beliefs I think that's how God works.

Anyway, that machine is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. It took a couple weeks to get used to wearing it and for the effects to kick in but I wouldn't give it up for the world!

I am now able to watch movies, pay attention to lectures, read, drive etc without nodding off.

Also, I never really saw a doctor. I went to a place late at night where they hooked me up to a bunch of electrodes and let me sleep. It was like a hotel room but for the wires coming off of my head.
From that data they determined that I had sleep apnoea (and hypopneas too! which are scary) and they sent me to a medical supply place where I met with a technician who set it up and adjusted the mask for me and I was all set.

Norse if you can get a CPAP machine I would really recommend it. Once you get used to it and get a mask that works for you it feels like a whole new life!
I have fallen asleep without it a few times and I don't know how I ever got along without it. I just went on vacation and forgot to bring it along. 3 nights without it and I felt like I was run over by a truck...it's weird how you get used to feeling that way.
Norse

you have to wear a CPAP mask?? Jeez, my sons were hooked up to them off and on for about the first 5 weeks of their lives.. I had no idea they used them for adults too...

I work for a scientific publisher, so I have done some private research into getting my uvula removed.. that apparently can make a big difference.. if it wasn't for my phobia of needles, knives, doctors, hospitals, bleeding and pain, I'd be all for it..
fen

Doctors and hospitals I get. But the rest? There's no need to be scared of those!

Now get out there and jump into a skip filled with knives and syringes - confront your fear!

(Note: under no circumstances should anyone actually do this, except for those Dirty Sanchez people - they should do it twice)
Norse

the dirty sanchez people should just keep doing it until the exsanguinate..

filthy welsh gits..
Dark Lord

Well here's what I know about that surgery. Apparently it hurts like 4 times as bad as getting your tonsils removed. It takes quite a long time to recover...a period where you get to eat such wonderful food as apple sauce, jello and pudding.

And the killer is it doesn't always work.

I'll stick with a mask.

Add dentists to that list, and you've got my list hands-down (though to be honest, I don't mind my own bleeding, it's just other peoples that freaks me out! ).

Sleep apnoea I've heard of (in fact there was a series on BBC recently about sleep disorders, and it was mentioned there), but what's hypopneas?
Dark Lord

I got the terminology wrong. Sorry. I had to check my diagnosis to get the wording right and I see I was confused. Hypopnoeas are just little apnoeas (which even a rudimentary knowledge of Greek should have told me.)

What I was referring to are called Centrals...it where my brain basically forgets to tell my lungs to breath. Most apnoeas are caused by an obstruction, but Centrals are a neurological problem.
