NY Giants rant

So after almost 2 months of junk food and slagging off I got my fat ass back in the gym today. (50 lbs by Jan 31st is my first goal!) I grab a Sports Illustrated and hop on the treadmill. It's a little old, it's NFL preview issue but I flip through the scouting reports.

First up is New England rank #1 in the NFC East...no surprise there. Likewise I am not surprised to read words like "Houdini, Fluke and Lucky" regarding their game to the Giants. Annoyed? Yes. Surprised? No. After all, it's been that way the entire off season. Nobody mentions the fact that just a few weeks previous the Giants came within 3 points of making the Patriots have a 17-2 season.

But I did get really annoyed when I turn to the NFC East and see the Super Bowl champions ranked #3 of 4 and in the scouting report is says, "A decidedly easy schedule early in the season will help get the Giants on their way to a Wild Card spot in the play offs."

Are you F-ing kidding me?! Yes the Giants had a rocky start early last season but once they were off and running they were a phenomenal team and the numbers show that! I think there were several big mouths and prima donnas  on that team that are now gone and were mostly gone at the end of last season.

I know I have a bias but come on! Are they a dynasty of the order of the last decades Patriots? No. But for cryin out loud...an easy schedule should get them a Wild Card?!

I just keep telling myself that the Patriots were huge underdogs in Super Bowl XXXVI and even after that it took the media about 3 years to figure out they were the new juggernaut.

But even today Sprots Center said that the Cowboys and the Eagles looked like "Super Bowl Contenders" last night.

They must have been watching a different game than I was. 15 total penalties for nearly 150 yards? Dallas accounts for over 100 of those yards themselves! That didn't look like two Super Bowl Contenders to me. It looked like two teams without any sort of defense or discipline. 15 total penalties isn't all that high but 100 yards in penalties is! It's not Super Bowl caliber play if you ask me. Neither is a QB fumbling in his own endzone. Or McNabb completely forgetting that he can throw the ball away instead of being sacked. They both looked pretty sloppy IMO.

Okay rant over.

Anyone else want to rant about bad ref calls, or shitty rule changes this year?

I enjoyed your 'rant' and can understand your pain.

Okay seriously are half the commentators over at ESPN in love with the Dallas Cowboys or what?

On First Take this morning I heard them say that the Cowboys were not only back but that they had never gone away?

To quote Boomer's lesser known saying, "WHAT?!" Oh come on!

Never went away? They beat the 49ers...in Texas. Do you think maybe they are getting a little ahead of themselves? Next week they take on another stinker of a team at home, the Seahawks. The SHOULD beat them too...and I'm sure by then the Cowboy/T.O. apologists will be drooling all over themselves.

But that's okay because it only make their let down worse when they play back to back games against the Steelers and the Giants. 9-7 may get them into the playoffs this year, tho.

My predictions for that division:

Giants 15-1 (or 14-2 depending on who the rest up for the playoffs)
Redskins 10-6
Cowboys 9-7
Eagles 6-9-1

The only that saving grace they have right how is the pathetic records in the NFC West, and the mediocre records in the North...but we could also end up with 3 teams from the South in the play offs.

Either way, saying "Dallas isn't just back, they never left!" is completely blind and makes me question every analysis these guys do.
