OgresOk so we're gearing up to play another season of the bloodyfull game soon and as I only played with a half painted team last season I've promised I'll try to play with a completely painted one this season.
I've decided to play Ogres as my Vampires aren't quite finished and I've had a hankering to play with the team for quite a while. I'm of the opinion 6 Ogres isn't enough but I can't really back that opinion up without getting some more time on pitch to see.
Enough waffle, this is the Gallery. Bring on the pictures!
Excuse the shine on some of the models, the gloss is still showing as I had a scare with my Testors (it started to strip the paint off the Ogre) so I've gone with normal Matt Varnish which doesn't work as well...
Here are the snots I've painted so far.
Maybe this picture should be larger.
Here's the one Ogre so far:
Look! I wore the paint off the base while varnishing him!
Here they are all together
They don't always look like that, here's a WIP of the remaining minis I have available right now:
Those mean I have enough to field a Street Brawl team of Ogres, but not a normal one.
And here's the biggest problem I have facing me. My other three Ogres... They're not really in the right kit.
I love their poses and I really want to use them as they're the best three heads from the Grandma Wendy range. But I can't repaint straight over these, so it's looking like I might have to strip them. Shame as the blue and yellow one isn't half bad.

Those look great!
I use a normal matte finish (mainly because I use for fixing charcoal drawings). I used to use a coat of gloss and then two coats of matte. Now I just do 3 coats of matte.
It's debatable if I'm saving money by just not buying gloss varnish and using 3 coats of matte but it seems to work for me. I may go back if I get so inclined but for now it seems to work.
Those really do look good.

Thanks. Comments are always a great motivator for me.
I go Gloss, Matte, Matte because I want the hard wearing coat on there as FF minis take one hell of a battering with all that being knocked over. Mind you that's where the wonderful Impact prone/stunned counters come in. I'm thinking about getting 11 of them so I never have to knock a mini over again (until I play Necro/Mordheim).

They look great! I also love the way you painted the goblins/imps.

I adore that numberplate on the Ogre fen! Thats the first thing that jumped out at me, its really well done!
Those snots are pure comedy though, the dark green works well on them, as i normally picture them having pale green skin

Fen, I gotta say... i love those snotlings. Love the skin and good team colours. Great job. The ogres are looking good too.

They're all great, but what really caught my eye was the attention to detail with the stripe on the helmet that you can see between the legs of the imp that just had to go!

Great work as usual, Fen... I have a feeling I'm going to be embarrassed to have my Siringit shown next to yours!

fen - you make me feel ashamed of everything that I have ever painted!
They look great!

Nonsense. You should always be proud of your own work. Do so now!
Here's a quick reminder of what the model looked like when I last posted in this thread. (Left)
And here he is now.
Man I'm so impatient with bases, I should remember to give them two coats of brown before I photograph...

or use black base rings for display purposes - makes the base look so much more finished IMHO

This team isn't for display, it's for playing. And I don't like black ring bases as much as brown ones on pitch, it puts the emphasis on the bases too much and detracts the eye.

Sweet stuffings fen! I just got back from vacation and saw these. Definitely some wonderful work there
I showed these to my wife and she said "I wish I could paint like that". Definitely picked up a new fan with these. Great job.

This is a great looking team. I particularly like the snotlings - your painting style has made them look very expressive.

awsome, just awsome. Think this is the best thing i have seen from you.
You are really good with the white and blu shades fen, loved your necromunda enforcer gang to, which was the same colors.

fen does a great white/off white combo.. this is his best work in months IMHO.. and I agree his best ever work was the Necromunda enforcer gang.. they just blew me away.. nice to see you coming back to a style I like fen...

Thanks, everyone loves the Enforcers. I think they tickle people's bells as they have the old Black and White police colour scheme which also reminds people of SW Storm Troopers. I prefer my Escher personally, but what do I know?
I've only got 2 Ogres left to do for the starting line up, I've halted halfway through doing them both as I'm concentrating on getting the Impact! miniatures done atm.

I know I wish to God I'd chosen a different colour scheme than White for my Warmachine Khador army...
(This hasn't been updated in fecking AGES...but anyway... http://web.comhem.se/fishtank/warmachine/ )

I don't know what you're talking about, white's awesome fun to paint. It's probably the most expressive 'colour' you can use. It's all down to how you shade it.
Anyway, here are the last Ogre pictures for the moment as I have the Impact miniatures and an entry into a Necromunda painting competition to take part in. http://easternfringe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5546&start=0
First up, the Ogre that I've been keeping hidden away for a while.
If you're at all curious, here's what he looked like before:
And here he is now:
(See? Anyone can get better at painting and modelling! Even me!)
And here's the entire team as it stands. I'm missing either 1 snot or 1 Ogre to complete the starting lineup. I'm not sure if I go 5 Ogres, 6 Snots, 2 RR or 4 Ogres, 7 snots, 4 RR. (Open to input here)
(Two shots with the Ogres in a different order because I couldn't decide which I liked best.)
(please please please Tom, up the number of Ogres in the team to 8 so I can paint more of these lovely models in this colour scheme. )

Awsome.
I would love to get smashed on the table by a team like that.

I might, might take them to some tournaments sometime. It all depends, it's not easy for me to travel.

just went over the Necro stuff.. some nice work in there.. the Scavvy boss is very nice, but I still think the enforcers work the best - maybe it is just that white + armour works well
I love the painted battle damage on the most recent Ogre, very nice work...
Thads, please tell me you are using white undercoat for white models, right??

I have to agree, that is some great work. And the enforcers are my favorite, too.

Actually no.
I use grey. (P3 Ironhull grey to be specific)

I work up from black for everything I do - If that helps at all.
