Oh God, my eye is still twitching.So...today was supposed to be an easy day. In the morning my wife and I planned on moving the computers downstairs to free up the office upstairs for other stuff...mainly my art...also to get our TV and computers in separate rooms because we waste too much time watching both simultaneously. IN the afternoon I had planned on painting for Impact. I WILL finish that rhino before 11:59pm June 30th...It may be Pacific time but it will be done!
ANYWAY...after all of the hassle of moving two computers, and two desks down narrow stairs and scraping the F out of the wall by the stairs...my computer decides that it wants to act up.
I have no idea what caused this but it logged me off as soon as I logged on. Now it was working fine in he morning and the night before I had done a virus scan...so I find it hard to believe it was a virus even though that's what the internets seems to think.
So after pounding my fists, screaming and lots of other aggression I put in my disc and repair the installation...however my disc has a scratch on it and some of the files couldn't be installed. (A lot of DLLs). Combine that with the fact that this machine came with Vista and I uninstalled it in favor of XP so I don't have all the drivers I need readily available I am going to be spending a lot of time downloading drivers and dealing with a quirky install.
So far I am okay but I have been a lazy ass since we moved and I have backed up anything in 6 months.
This sucks.

Having suffered with my PC recently, I understand your pain.
Nothing like a PC problem to install in your the virtues of regular backups though.

Oh don't think I wasn't sweating all of the paper minis that I have done for Tom. I have only 2.5 teams left to do! None backed up! Every single thing I have done on this computer since I moved here in Oct. 07 has not been backed up! ACK! What was I thinking...well I was thinking, "Oh I'll do it tomorrow."
I got it all burned now though. phew!
And (knock wood) my OS seems to have stabilized with the repair, despite the scratch on my disc and failure to correctly install SP2.
Now I just saw that I have a broken wire in the power cord to my router.
I'm not messing with this at all today...I'm painting.

Well if anyone is using SPybot S&D watch out.
From what I can gather my problem is a false positive that Spybot calls HellzLittleSpy. When Spybot deletes the registry it is actually deleting log in registries. Preventing you from logging in. However some sources are saying it is a keystroke logger...but the results are the same in Spybot. It deletes the wrong registries.
There loads of people having this problem so a fix should be on the way.

Thanks for the tip, because I have spybot, too. So I'm going to wait for an actualization.

Spybot also shows it as CoolWWWSearch.hjg.
Who knows at this point what is going on. It was hard enough for me to just log in. And exacerbated by the fact that my windows disc was scratched so me repair install didn't work...it may not have mattered anyway.
Apparently this thing is a mofo! And I can see why...I mean when you can't even log in in safe mode your options become very limited.
