Playing with skillsHas anyone started playing against each other with skills yet? And if so has anyone noticed anything interesting or useful about specific skills?

We have had skills come into play from potions but that's it...although my league got interrupted by my move. From what I have seen most of the Gen Basic (and even the advanced) skills don't have any hard impact on the game. I can't think of one time someone won the game because of a skill...heck I can't even think of a goal that would have been unattainable without a skill.
That said, I am looking forward and watching closely for a time when we have some of the Type skills on the pitch. (Cheapsot & Ruthless I am looking straight at you. )

Like I mentioned in another post on skills. I am looking forward to seeing stackable skills work together to make some new and interesting possibilities. I really like some of the advanced positional type skills, especially the ones that help you to move players farther. I have always loved the fast teams in FF.

I think combo'd players like that are going to be tough to maintain. I mean a player with Burst and Sprinter needs two other Basic skills to get that combo...that's 4 skills altogether and a bare minimum of 7 games to get that...and that would be if the team scored 3 goals every game for 7 straight games and he was on the pitch for every single one of them. That in itself is a feat! More likely it take around 12 games to get that many skills on him and by then the team is going to be skill heavy and need trimming.
That one player by himself will be adding 35 points to the team cost. That's nearly one fifth of total on ONE player. Now consider that the teams in Elfball advance together rather than individually like they do in Bl00d B0wl and you can see how this guy would be hard to sustain. A team of 4 skill players has a max of 5 players on it.
Okay, so all the players are cut but this guy hangs around and earns the combo you referenced...where does that leave us?
So a Striker wins the Face Off, picks up the ball and earns 6 momentum. Easy enough.
Now he can only use Burst if he doesn't need to disengage so he had to win the Face Off by a flop on the opponent's side.
So if the opponent flopped the Face Off, he has Burst and he rolls 6+ successes on 4 dice he could do a one turn score.
I could also see an argument for not allowing this since technically the Pick Up Challenge happened in the Face Off, not the player's turn.
But even then, the odds of it happening are pretty low. I wouldn't keep my player with Burst in the Face Off circle...he'd just get hurt.
As far as doing it with Sprinter...Good Luck!
Oh and like Tom said, failing any part of this Goal Dash is gonna leave the guy wide open in enemy territory.
