Raised Numbers vs Skill Rings

I'm going to make an order from Impact soon, and I'm debating whether to go with raised numbers on my bases, or skill rings for any tournaments I might play in.  Obviously I can't do both, since the rings wouldn't fit on the bases with raised numbers.  Any advice?  Are skill rings even that useful?  Raised numbers seem like a nice aesthetic touch.

Also, I see there are a whole bunch of base weights.  What are those useful for?  Just giving models more heft?

The base weights with the felt bottoms make the minis feel very chic indeed.

The base weights are especially helpful for plastic minis or conversions that may be unbalanced.
But they also give adhesive on the felt bottoms something more to grab. I think they're great!

I grabbed the 75-piece baseweight set because I've got at least a half-dozen teams' worth of Grandma Wendy's plastic sprues that I'm intended to convert for various teams and races and yes, the extra bit of heft would be nice on the plastic figures.  Not thta I've ever actually built any of them yet... but I've got my baseweights ready and waiting when I do! ;)

As for the rings vs. raised numbers... I don't have much involvement in the tourney circuit, where I imagine the rings would be most useful, so for myself, I'd choose the raised numbers.  But it's all a matter of the user's individual needs.

I used the rings at GenCon and they were really useful for me and my opponent to keep track of what minis had extra skills.  They do not fit tightly and the mini needs to be slid around instead of picked up.  Some guys didn't like the rings when you got knocked down.  I didn't mind.  I just picked the mini up slightly and laid it down on top of the ring.  Very useful to keep track of extra skills.

They may even fit with the raised numbers I don't know as neither I nor any of my opponents had them on our teams at GenCon.  I know Extreme has the numbers on his Orc team, but he wasn't playing orcs.

Bad example, my Orcs have the numbers on their shoulder pads, and are on Privateer Press display bases.

Several of my other teams have numbers, but I don't have much interest in the base rings.

I was looking with interest at those base rings, too.  I'm a big user of the Slater's #'s though (lot of extra work though) and also think that they might not fit.  I still think the rings are a GREAT idea without the raised #'s, though.
