Robert Jordan RIP
I feel very bad for his family as he was not very old 58.
I was a Wheel of Time addict ... now that I know I'll never know how it ends ... anyone want the first 11 books, the World Map and character guide book, and Prequel novel #1. Bummer ... this is one series I really wanted to know how it all ended.
Thankfully JK Rowlings lived to finish her epic multi-book series ... that would have been more than my reading psyche could handle to never know how either ended.

Wow, this is the first I've heard of this... sad...

Wasn't he going to wrap most of it up in the 12th book?
I might be possible that a rough draft exists or even a layout that someone could finish.
Sad, though. Very sad. I was always resigned to the fact that the Dark Tower books would never be finished...now that they are I don't know if I liked it or not.

Never got into the WoT, just didn't grab my reading head.
A Mate was well into it though, to the point he was trying to get sioome of us interested in running a WoT-based Mordheim campaign.
I do wonder if it's the end or not though. Depending on what notes etc he made, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else (family member, another author) stepped up to finish it.

Notes are the key words here. I know from reading articles he knew the ending, but did he leave enough behind for someone else to finish it? Or do they finish it with another author. Either way fans will complain, not finished or it wasn't the same as Jordan would have done it. Almost nobody wins here except the pub company selling more books.
Certainly he and his family lose, but literature loses one of the largest and thought out fantasy campaigns ever.

Just googled a bit and found an article from a Dutch newspaper (Algemeen Dagblad) talking about the final book.
It seems that in the last days before his death, he has been informing his wife of the way he envisioned the book should end.
She, a couple of friends and colleagues will finish the book.
I think this would be a great conclusion to an epic story and a fitting tribute for the man who started it.

Everyone wants to leave a legacy and a finished WoT series would be a great one for Jordan. Most capitvating epic series that I've read since the Belgariad/Mallorean (which I had the pleasure of find out about after all 6 books were finished and so read them all in a row and then loaned them out to many friends over the years to read as well).

A friend fo mine and a big fan of WoT said that on a site named Dragonmouont that Jordon did reveal the synopsis to his wife and cousin. So that 's two places that have the info. That looks good for those of us that have so much time invested in this series.

Just read the Fionavar Tapestry, by Guy Gavriel Kay; same story (bit older) and told in a lot more interesting way and length...
I tried reading Jordan years ago, it was great, until he resetted all that was achieved. I quit then. It is always a pity when someone dies, especially when they die too young, and my sympathies do go out to his family, but I can't say that I miss him more than other people I don't know.

yeah, I'm still wishing he stopped after book 3..
I laboured (and I really mean laboured) my way through the Dune series.. wish I had stopped after book 2.. sad when such good initial concepts result in conceited authors writing for their own self satisfaction and the publisher's filthy money..

I liked Wizard and Glass, and even Wolves of Calla ("roont" was awesome, I love stuff like that. Deadlands has "ferners")
The rest of it (*including the two above I guess) felt rushed and panicked. I think his near death experience got him a little freaked out.
