Spanish Elfball League

Hi guys!

I'm planning to start the first FF league in Madrid (Spain). During the few weeks I'm going to play some matches with friends of mine and future members of the league.

I ask you for some feedback on the league rules I should implement.

1) How long should the matches be? One, two or three tests?
2) How many points should each team have?
3) Can you tell me from your experiences what I should be aware of?

Thanks

Be interested in Dark Lord's thoughts.

If you are running a league that can develop I like the 180 point team.  That allows 12 rookie players.   If you want any extra or players to learn skills you have to start making management decisions on what to leave out.   Dark Lord might disagree ... curious to see what he thinks a good point league is.

As for # of Tests.   I think if I had the time to set up a league at my local gaming store.  I'd start with a season played to 1 Test.   This lets everyone get used the rules and faster.  I might even play the first season using both of the Optional Introductory rules.   This assures that the games don't last forever (or at least it should).  Skill development will be very light for this season though.   My concern would be if you play best of 3 Tests while players are learning that if the games run too long you'll turn off the league players.   The 2 Optional Introductory rules should pretty much guarantee faster games with more carnage.

So I'd look at it like this:

1) Start off with 1 Test and both of the Optional Introductory rules
2) If you find the games are going very well ... have a vote of the league to keep the rules the same and move to best of 3 Tests.  (now these games will take around 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours to play ... so it all depends on if you want to run longer games).

From there you can decide if you want to move to the full rules with the normal rules for conditional success and normal Face-offs ... these will make the games last longer and also more chaotic as you'll flop more.  Test to see if these games are to the leagues taste ... if they are go for it ... if not ... consider sticking with the optional rules for Stars and Face-offs.
