Street Brawl facing

Is there a reason for the facing for non-ordinal facing in SB to be:

Code:
FFR
F×R
RRR

Rather than

Code:
FFF
F×R
FRR

The latter preserves the fact that the front facing covers 5 spaces when the player is positioned ordinaly.

PS.  I have not played a game of SB yet so this is just an observation based on the rules.

Yeah ... the reason was I didn't want players to put their players facing diagonially.  I consider that a bet hedge so I wanted there to be a penalty for doing it.

Then why not just allow ONLY ordinal facings?

And, the more I look at it I cannot see any reason or benifit to face diagonally; either rule- or tactic-wise.

Didn't want to disallow them .. just wanted there to be a penalty for doing so.

Fair enough,  I guess it gives a good reason to properly face your players or your oponnant will force the diagonal.
