white line ?

If I may ask why did you make it so extreme a punishment for the ball carrier if he gets shoved into the outside white line, this is something that always made me curious while reading the rules.

As a side question how are you guys meeting to learn elfball on vassal?

well silly and i had been on a lot last week and taught whoever was on, but im pretty busy this week and i think SS has exams etc

Im also beavering away at getting 5.1.1 ready ;)

At the moment we're using a mixture of private messages, IRC chat and death threats on the forum to organise vassal games. Hopefully we can start a small league (playing at a regular time) sometime in the next few weeks.

I'm not entirely sure about the whiteline rule but it does "feel" right that way. Does anyone know if the same full game ban is applied to a ballcarrier who is pushed (or steps) into their own goal circle too?

PS down with scary orange elves
Dark Lord

Ballcarrier is not banned for entering the goal hex. Only going out of bounds with the ball.

At least that is how I read it. There are two separate entries for the goal and out of bounds so they are handled two different ways. The goal section doesn't specifically say they are banned and since it is an entirely new entry I assume it would need to specify.

Couple reasons.

1) I wanted to keep the action tight ... this ban encourages players to avoid the sidelines which was desired for the game play.

2) For offense ... it adds a sacrifice play strategy to the game.  I have in a game set a player in the centre hex and when my opponent overcommitted to my back field ... I delibrately ran the ball out of bounds to allow my player in the centre hex to get the ball and take off running my next turn.

I love that idea. I hadn't even thought of that. That is so sneaky.

yeah, Tom's a rattlesnake, he needs carefully watched - you should see his trophy cabinet, groaning under the weight of all his Fantasy Football tourney wins..

never mind Tom, maybe you're lucky in love?

I let my brother win the tournaments ... I just run them.

Maybe if I stopped playing only Halflings or Ogres in tournaments I'd win ... ;-)

However ... that said ... I took 2nd in the last two B.B. tournaments I've played in.   (things you didn't know ...    )

yeah, co-incidental that your recent victories happen around the same time as the rules you wrote become official..

what is it they say about power corrupting?

sorry if I sound like Snew, I'm not a conspiracy theorist...

HAH ... ooooh I'm loving typing this post.

The 2nd place with Halflings happened with LRB 4.0 rules ... I haven't been able to win well at all with Flings with the LRB 5.0 rules.

The 2nd place with Ogres happened at a Street Bowl touranment with LRB 4.0 rules (so you have only yourself to blame for that one).

I don't like playing Halflings with the LRB 5.0 rules that I wrote.  Ogres I don't mind playing ... but I don't like playing Ogres outside of Street Bowl.

The funny thing is you really did sound like Snew      because his comments never have any facts to them either.

And I know you are just yanking my chain ... trust me I know the difference between your posts and Steve's.

Nah, there's just something broken about LRB5 rules, hence my one and only tourney win...

Being a glutton for punishment   I tried Halflings at Stuporbowl and went 2-4 (even lost to another 'Fling team   ). Figuring I can improve my performance  I will be trying my luck, again, at Zlurpee.

Wish me luck!
