The Shoestring:
No... no, I won´t comment on that one...
Its not a shoestring ... its a measuring string. And in 4 days of playing Elfball demoes ... I only needed to use it in ONE game and that was for a passing play where I was throwing a 6 hex pass through the middle hex to see if it was "clean" (ie the pass didn't cross a white lined hex) ... it was clean and then I failed the roll and it bounced off the white line anyway ... . So its a very infrequently used item.

The rulebook:
Good printout. Colours are fine. The pix of the play by play examples a bit to dark for my taste. Would love to see it printed on a double sized (A3) paper with two sides on each side, folded and put toghether in the middle as DL proposed here:

Would just look a tiny bit more professional.
My laser printer doesn't print on A3 paper. Not sure how I fix this.

And is this really Version 4.6?
What changes are in there compared to 4.5?
Thought I had sent you a 4.6 version with the changes in red. The biggest change was the switch on Tackles to 2 extra successes causing an Injury Challenge as if the player's Grit was 6.

All the fun for me and you!
Glad you like the game ... thanks for all your help Lines!

Ah, okay. I got that one.
But it was still named Version 4.5 in the credits and in the file name...
There´s where my confusion came from...

If I had access to A3 paper I know I could print it out in fairly large quantities. I can print to just about any size paper you can think of, including large format. There's one advantage of working for an environmental engineering firm, lots of print capacity! _________________ Stephen J. Miller

Got it on Wednesday, had a chance to play it last night (with the missus). My Divine Wind vs her Middle Kingdoms. When I'd finally got her head around the fact that attribute scores affect the number of nice, not the target score (took about 30 minutes of play ) we discovered a very different FF game.
We played for about 2 hours, and nobody scored, and then she went to bed (and I still didn't score ).
Got to say I like it, and I love the pitch. Fantastic job DL! The game feels slightly clunky at the first play, there's a lot of reading of the reference sheet going on, but that was dropping off towards the end.
I know I need to adjust my approach, we were both getting to within sniffing distance of the goal and getting slapped. A bit more brutality I think An excuse to play more games methinks
Biggest bonus for me was the momentum. I remember reading the rules as they developed and thinking that it could well feel 'tacked on' when playing, but it works really well. It's easilly one of my favourite parts of the system, when the momentum is clocking up you really get the feeling that this turn could be a turning point.
Overall first impression (despite not scoring ), really good. Can't wait to cross the white line again
Quick question...
Are the dice going to be sold seperately? Just wondering, because whilst six is a great amount for the box, and covers most rolls, I found it easier to keep the star results and roll another dice. For idiots like me the chance to buy a few more would be another certain sale. For most players I would imagine six to be more than enough, though. But as the board is being sold seperately it might be handy.
And thanks for the football D6's, by the way. May well use them as incentives to get others to give the game a shot. _________________ Officially rubbish at all fantasy football games
