OK, now a friend of mine drove all the way down from Scotland to go to the AGM on Thursday. Here is an email that he forwarded to me from Grandma Wendy after he asked them about Blo0dB0wl and in particular the Witchelf ref and the Zug holding up his helmet to club somebody.

The two models mentioned are these:

I am hoping that the new 'shiny' model is something other than the Zug seen at games day because I have to say, I'm not a fan of it (too big!):
http://media.shozu.com/cache/portal/media/213fb0/117441130

Now, the real reason for my post:

If Grandma Wendy got hold of a cast of either of the 2 models that they have lost, is it possible for them to make a new mold from them or do they need the greens?

If they can, then does anyone have an copy of the models (especially the Zug one which is possibly my favourite model seen the first ed ogre!) which they would be willing to sell/donate to get this done?

And finally does anyone have the sway to incourage Grandma Wendy to do the casting? Lycos maybe??

Anyway, at least it looks like FF has not been forgotten as most of us had suspected.

Chris

If they can find one of the original masters (Made from the greens) then they could get back up to speed for production.

But cloning minis results in too much degradation as each generation looses detail and size (Can be as much as 2mm per generation as I understand it). . .

My advice is to not get your hopes up.   Remain guardedly optimistic and expect nothing.

Otherwise you risk becoming me.

Everytime I see that Zug mini I think two things.  1) It looks like Griff and 2) It's a real shame such a rare mini has that paint job on it.

In my book he never got fat, he's still that sweet little 2nd ed mini with the awesome visor...

It's a decent mini but it doesn't say "Zug" to me.

To me a guy named Zug with the stats he has and the back story should look like a complete neanderthal.  I liked the protruding brow, pin head and blocky muscles of the old one. This guy looks like the Punisher or something, not an ogre like, brick wall of an thug like Zug should.

It's a nice sculpt, but IMO nothing to go goo-goo over.

I agree that the painted zug there is a really nice mini, but not fitting for zug, looks more like i would like griff to look.
The zug in greenstuff linked though looks great for zug, and if it is big, well.. he is strong like an ogre so... whats the deal?

I much prefer the painted Zug above to the green linked to.  The green is to much in the style of the crap 3rd edition Zug for my liking, and looks like a refugee from a Necromunda Goliath gang.

Well that's a valid point too. The old Zug was ripe for conversion but I rarely saw it used vanilla.

I was pretty much only comparing the heads.

I don't dislike the new Zug mini, it's actually got a seriously good expression and nice kit. But the stance on him is just too wide.  There's no benefit to making him have a near 40 mm spread leg wide stance.

What will that mean for BBFigs?

My guess...nothing.

It's an email from "Grandma Wendy"...hardly something to rely on. Especially when the word from actual honest to goodness people from Grandma Wendy hardly ever ends up being completely true.

I know I can hardly stop the speculation this will cause...but I try for the sake of your mental health.

Please don't run at this football. Lucy is only going to yank it away again.

What will that mean for BBFigs?
Actually now that BBFigs is up and running the overall impact of this change is nothing big to me at all.

Even if G-W went back to selling all the figures individually ... they still won't have full 16 player team deals for the all the teams so I have that.  They still won't bundle Big Guys at 20% in a team deal like BBFigs is.  And if I can purchase the figures direct from G-W instead of having to break down team boxes than I can sell the figures for 10% off of G-W's store prices as the reason for folks to shop with us.   At this time I haven't had to even think about something like this because of the lack of individual figures.  But if G-W does go back to full on individual figures ... I have a plan B for BBFigs.com to still be a very active part of the B-B world.

Galak
