Nightly Update:
Got the file selection dialog working on OS X, Windows, and Linux.
Got the Dice Box and team benches to draw correctly on all OS flavors that I can test with.
Don't let anyone ever tell you that Java is cross platform out of the box. There are a lot of little gotchas, especially in the Java 2D graphics library.

| Very much looking forward to the OS X version being up and running. Around here there is a decided lack of gamers and it will be nice to face some new opponents. Keep up the good work. |

Thanks. It isn't really an OS X version. It is all the same code, I'm just learning a lot of writing Java code to work on everything simultaneously.
That being said, they just unleashed a Java update for OS X today. Hopefully it will still work at that point.
Finally, I see we have a detractor in the vote portion of this thread. Please feel free to voice your complaint with the concept, I'd be very interested. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

www.elfball.net is updated. New build for testing the setup is available.
Thanks for sticking with me. It has been a rough couple of weeks personally and I'm glad to get back to work on this. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

| Same for me though it seems that real life may have caught up with Ceph as he has gone quiet. Ah well, I am sure that he will be back as and when. |

Ok. I'll put it on a fresh computer and try again.
I'm hoping that I won't be maintaining two different versions for different OSes but if it must be done it must be done. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

You know, I half thought about instigating an OS war but I resisted...well, more like I was counting on somebody else to fire the first shot for me more like!

I just have a real complex about Macs and therefore I can't resist. As an art/graphic design guy I run into the Mac v. PC stuff all the time and somebody always says something about it being better for graphics. Ugh! It makes me want to scream.
That said, there are rules to follow when it comes to Windows. Rule #1 Microsoft must release 2 patches before software is usable!
So I would amend your statement from to | Quote: | | XP w/SP2+ for the win! | _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

after much thought and weighing up the pros and cons of each OS, I have come to the conclusion that the best is in fact the Wii lol
Windows: it's full of holes and needs patches to get it to do what it's supposed to do.
Mac: it's a Mac...nuff said
Nintendo Wii: you look stupid using it, but you're having too much fun to care. _________________ MidniteXpress

If you're talking about OSX vs. Windows what is virtually never said is yes, Windows needs patches to plug security holes...generally because it gets poked at infinitely more than OSX. Nobody is trying to hack into the Macs at Disney to steal the graphic images that are WIPs. Nobody uses Macs for anything but video and graphic design so it doesn't get the thousands of attacks that Windows does. Just like, nobody is writing viruses to attack OSX because there's no prestige in crashing only the design dept of a major corporation, and personal Mac users number two few to warrant the attention. If Macs were attacked on a daily basis OSX would be on its third patch too.
What else is virtually never said is that OSX crashes every bit as much as Windows XP. More times than I care to remember I have stared at an infinitely spinning pinwheel. As a matter of fact, if we are talking about crashing. I would definitely say the Mac I used at school crashed way more often than my PC at home.
So even if you can stretch it say that the operating systems are an equal value, the price and lack of software takes care of any minor excuses any mac users can make. The biggest problem is that the people who should be using a Mac (my mom) aren't.
IMO what Microsoft should have given everyone rather than Vista was XP wSP3 at a reduced price (say $50). That way, those who have a bootleg version could just go buy it and be legal. I own a proper copy of Vista but use a bootleg version of XP if that tells you how I feel about Vista.

It wasn't, but I appreciate the sentiment. I received a temporary assignment that put me in a galaxy far, far away (i.e. overseas). I'm afraid, to my shame, that I didn't give any thought to the people here during that time.
However, I'm home now (well, for the last month) and I'll be picking this one up again. I'd very much like a change to finish it. Sadly, I'll have to figure out what it was I did... _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

Great to see you back here mate and given what has happened to the fantasy football landscape in the last few weeks there is a huge gap in the market for an online game! Hope things have been good though.
