Darkson.. Sarcos are about as close to Dinosaurs as we are likely to go.. |
Is $8,000 what it costs to create the line? Or is that what you pay for a sculptor in addition to getting everything cast up? |
That's the basic cost to have 12 figures sculpted, moulded, and cast.

so if the oceanic team is a player project, i.e. we do the sculpts, then we're saving impact money

We don't enjoy telling folks that there stuff is not good enough for us to cast ... be we do have to do so fairly often.
Just a word of warning ... we love the figures we put into our Targeted program ... but they have to pass an acceptance hurdle to get there.

Well, of course. Impact is a business and I don't expect any business goes out of its way to lose money.
That being said, I doubt I'll be able to make anything good enough. I'm just tempted to give it a shot. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

actually having Norses imput would be great. we want it to be of Impact's high standard, if the sculpt isn't good enough then we try again till it is.
which reminds me, Ceph what player are you going to sculpt? i was thinking of trying one and don't want to end up doing the same as you lol _________________ MidniteXpress

I was thinking about an octopus thrower. Seemed like a good place to start. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

Wouldn't an Octopus make a better catcher? I would make the Dolphin or the seal the thrower, with ball balanced on his nose. Just my 2 cents. _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

actually i was thinking, since it's so hard to throw underwater, they wouldn't have a thrower at all. then again the difficulty might make the thrower even better on land. i agree that the octopus would make a better catcher. how about the following line-up?
monster/big guy- whale
catcher/striker- dolphin, seal and octopus as a maybe
thrower- octopus as a maybe or the whale as a thrower (shoots the ball out of blowhole)
defenders- walrus? or orca
hunter- hammerhead, swordfish
safety- cuttlefish (just for Ceph) and again octopus would make a good safety
midfielders- i recently saw an old poster of the aquaman monster and thought midfielder.
we need to make decisions, so how about everyone interested in the team pm's me their choice and i'll collate it and post it here. make one choice per position. _________________ MidniteXpress

Kraken I could go for, definitely. Perhaps an Orca defender to get a whale in there? Or just skip the whale and go for a dolphin somewhere? _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

I think before any putting into Flop or Targeted sculpting begins ... you guys really need to come up with a team you all agree on (and then that I agree on).
Keep in mind ... the team should offer up something different from the other teams already in the game. Part of why I stopped with the teams in the rulebook is because I felt like they covered a good range of team types.
If you come up with a roster that I like ... I'm not opposed to adding this in ... if I do that ... I'll probably move the map to the back page of the rulebook and then move the Oceanic, Orc, and Ratmen teams into the core listing (so there would be no optional teams).
But ... I need a team that offers something different other than models.

| I am picturing the team as slow but skilled and good with tackling, but maybe not overly strong. Not sure on stat lines/uniqueness of this team yet... |

I think I can agree with that, with the exception of the Monster and defenders. Standard defender statline 0-2 selection.
Well, when I get a break at work I'll put together a team. _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

I've been mulling over the stats etc. i think what we can take from real ocean creatures is big and strong (orca etc) and fast hunters (sharks). so on that basis i was thinking of a team with a good defence line and strong hunters, but weak or at the most average in other areas. again having a thrower is an issue. while an octopus thrower would look good, IMo it wouldn't really fit the theme.
here is what i have so far, but this is only my opinion.
0-1 kraken (monster)
0-4 defenders
0-4 hunters
0-3 midfielders
kraken: J=4 M=5 T=4 D=2 S=1 G=5
defender: J=5 M=4 T=4 D=2 S=2 G=4
hunter: J=6 M=3 T=4 D=3 S=2 G=3
midfielder: J=6 M=3 T=3 D=3 S=3 G=3
essencially i see this as a very strong team, but are not good at catching the ball. afterall they are literally fish out of water. they are good tacklers but their low skill forces them to run the ball.
i realise that this setup is similar to the sarcos team, but i was concentrating on the defense and hunter aspects. hopefully when i get around to testing this setup it will feel and play differently to the sarcos team, and open up some different tactics.
anyway that's my take on it, and don't worry Galak, i think we are months and months away from being ready to officially suggest the oceanic team.
as i said, this is still a work in progress so any and all opinions are welcome
