If you add a Striker to the mix that was previous suggested ... you need up with basically the Divine Wind team (ie not different)

i had noticed that, but had already passed on having a striker. then again a dolphin with modified stats would make a good striker. maybe something like..
J=7 M=2 T=2 D=4 S=4 G=2
this would represent a fast runner with good skill, but isn't a tackler and is slightly more delicate than most. personally i don't think the team needs a striker, though the sculpt would look great. i just don't think, common sense wise, an oceanic team would have such high jog or skill on dry land.
i was thinking more of a cross between black rock and razorbacks with a little gnome thrown in. a big lumbering defensive line, hunters to take out the ball carrier (but can barely catch a cold let alone the ball), kraken to put an end to opponent's big guy (or just cause havok) and leaving the midfielders to be the skill guys with their average stats.
to put forward my case your honour lol the other teams mentioned all have an edge to counter their weakness and compliment their strength (i.e. fast striker for devine wind, lots of S=3 gnomes and razorbacks). what i suggested, and the stats need tweaking, was a team that doesn't have lots of 3+ skill players, the hunters are fast and pack a punch but still low skill. this requires the coach to think about the most valuable player, the lowly midfielder. and i think that is different.
finaly, to sum this essay up, i would like to say:
1) my leg has gone to sleep
2) my cat just farted and the wall melted
3) woot it's saturday _________________ MidniteXpress

0-1 kraken (monster)
0-4 defenders
0-4 hunters
0-3 midfielders
kraken: J=4 M=5 T=4 D=2 S=1 G=5
defender: J=5 M=4 T=4 D=2 S=2 G=4
hunter: J=6 M=3 T=4 D=3 S=2 G=3
midfielder: J=6 M=3 T=3 D=3 S=3 G=3

I think if you want to differentiate from the Sarcos team you should up the number of Hunters, lower the number of Defenders, get rid of the Midfielders altogether and add a couple Strikers.
0-2 Kraken
0-2 Defenders
0-2 Strikers
0-6 Hunters
Now you could have a team that had Orca Defenders, Shark Hunters and Swordfish, Eel or Piranha Strikers. Those would make the coolest minis because let's face the popular minis on this team are not likely to be the dolphins...also putting a dolphin in football gear is gonna attract NFL attention.
Also it's possible you could ditch the Strikers for a unique position based off of Strikers. Something with lots of speed, maybe? _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

That is a pretty good mix and I think there aren't enough teams with more than one monster players currently. I take it that the top speed on this team is a 6 while the Kraken would probably have a jog of 4? _________________ http://www.elfball.net |

i'm still not sold on having strikers. maybe we should put the positions to a vote. the top 4 positions voted for are in the team, unless a team already exists with that combo. sound fair? _________________ MidniteXpress

Better idea...playtest both teams and see which plays better.
Popular opinion isn't always a good thing. Read my sig. _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Something I've not seen on any other team is Midfielders, Hunters, Safeties and KRAKEN!
0-2 kraken (monster)
0-3 safeties
0-3 hunters
0-4 midfielders
kraken: J=4 M=6 T=4 D=1 S=1 G=5
safeties: J=7 M=3 T=3 D=3 S=2 G=3
hunter: J=6 M=3 T=4 D=3 S=2 G=3
midfielder: J=6 M=3 T=3 D=3 S=3 G=3
Give the team a very Gimme back the ball aspect/tackle the opponent, but struggle slightly to move it given thier underwater nature
And if i had someone to game against, I'd playtest. |

The whole Oceanic team is a really cool concept that has fired up my imagination. I've sculpted a couple of guys but they are still works in progress.. I had a beach bum theme going on in my mind at the time with vivid bermuda shorts and bikini's.
The next player I was thinking of sculpting was a sawfish guy and a crabman.
I look forward to hearing your opinions & any advice for other players.

Very nice! Perhaps we need a Bloody version of Beach Volleyball for these guys! To me they look more suited to that than Elfball. Nice work!
