You mean Phil Bowen..
He's still sculpting last I heard. I believe he did some work on a few Chaos Cup tourney figs. I remember I kinda got excited when I heard he was attempting to re-create some of Phil Lewis' ideas for the Chaos Cup.
Just a little tidbit... It is believed by some that Phil Bowen also did the sculpts for much of the Grandma Wendy Khemri team. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny it. _________________ Scott

Phil is pretty much done with sculpting.
The last figure he did was Rex Farsight and he was working on that for about 18 months.
There are no more planned figures from Phil for the store at this time. We are working with Phil to buyout the rights to Phigs fully for Impact! ... at this time we still license the Phigs miniatures.

that's a shame, a great loss to the customers. fingers crossed for the buyout plans though. _________________ MidniteXpress

and yes, Phil Bowen did sculpt the Khemri team for Grandma Wendy - it was meant to be a metal conversion set for plastic skeletons, but due to mistakes at the casters, it ended up being the hardest team even created to simply assemble.. _________________ in this company my painting skills are limited at best.. |

You can also add Ramtut and Sillibilli to his list of Grandma Wendy minis. _________________ Zlurpee Forums

What's a SilliBilli? Don't think you can blame that one on me.
Yeah, I did the Khemri - it's one of my great failures. It was a doomed project thrice-redefined and ruined by lack of time on my part and terrible implimentation on the other side of the transaction out of absolute and completely understandable neccessity rather than any particular poor or malicious decision-making. But I won't get into the details or the gossip. Visiting the studio and doing some work for them was the highlight of a certain part of my life, and while my fanboy days are long gone, it was nice regardless of what ultimately came out.
Ramtut, on the other hand, is a point of pride. I love that mini.
I did a handful of pieces for Tom after Impact took over the phigs ranch - a new Valkyrie and a new Widow, plus the Rex figure, but those were the end of my sculpting life.
I just fell out of the gaming world, unfortunately, and as my hobby interests changed, my free time went with them and sculpting lost the tug-of-war. While I have a chest of paints and minis sitting in the corner and tell myself I will crack them open at a moment's notice, I no longer play tabletop games, or any face-to-face games due to geographic isolation, as well as a very limited amount of time now that I have kids and real life to attend to. My gaming itch these days is pretty much only scratched by World of Warcraft. If you're ever on the Steamwheedle Cartel-US server, look up a dwarf named Barley and say hi. You can also check out my WoW blog that I write with another TBB-old-timer (pfooti) at www.castrandom.com.
For both of you who remembers 0-12linemen.com and the game theory diatribes therein and ever wondered what came of that disturbed author's desire to utterly rewrite a certain fantasy football game in terms based on the philosophy espoused therein, if you can get in touch with him, I might be able to show you a document cobbled together by masked fugitives in the dead of night, but only at great peril to both of our souls.
So there you go, the tri-annual Phil update - stuck in the burbs with no one to play mini games with, spending too much time playing video games, and only checking in with the old gang once in a blue moon... I'm just glad I was smart enough to hand the phigs stuff over to Tom so that the minis would still be out there in the world being enjoyed instead of just letting them sit in my attic. |

I think this one (http://0-12linemen.blogspot.com/2009/09/03-06-06-if-youre-so-great-why-is-there.html) was brought up in the Vault early on as a reason why Stars should be an option in (what became) LRB5.
A lot of what you posted I didn't agree with 100%, but this one was spot on. _________________ What the hell am I doing on a mini's forum? I DON'T PAINT!!!

A lot of what you posted I didn't agree with 100%, but this one was spot on. | As did I. It became a very big deal with me with the BBRC for LRB 6.0 that we fix the exact problem Phil described there.
We did a lot of work for LRB 6.0 to make sure each team had 6 stars and to try and make sure that the price ranges of those stars was fairly equal (low cost, mid cost, high cost).

Goddamn that was some good stuff! It's like Phil wrote a story about the disintegration of my local league And apparently the reason no league can get off the ground in my new hometown despite a larger number of players and 3-4 game stores.

An interesting view point from someone who was playing the game years before me.
I'd say phil was a dinosaur and he hasn't figured out why the rules were changed the way they were. Perhaps he struggles to adapt to rule changes and can't accept good ones because of this.
Whenever I hear people talking about the earlier edition rules I think 'OMG what a load of crap!' So I suppose people just like whats familiar to them and I can't really blame him for the way he feels.
