I have bred a few different frog species so I felt compelled to chime in.
The GF frogs are really far off my tastes as well. They look way to silly. Just not a fan of the one DL posted either. For my money, the Limited Impact Frogman is just spot on. I wish Tom De Wolf could make a team in that "realistic" style. It just seems that none of the frog mini's I have seen, the sculptor spent any time looking at real amphibian physiology. And that may not have been their vision. But I think it looks much better. Just MHO.
Any chance for a preview of the Kroot sprues since they are fairly central to the thread. I would love to see how they look as I'm not familiar with the Grandma Wendy base for the conversion.
I hope Galak's vision of the harm done by GF is correct. That other FF game has stagnant support now. I'd hate to see it actually move backwards.

As far as the pic I posted I didn't mean something exactly like that. I would definitely want webbed hands and feet, and sleeker bodies. That one would make an okay defender or something but I don't think, he's perfect either. He just illustrated a more serious take on the model.
The Impact frog is awesome, and I would love see more in that style.
I don't really get the Kroot as substitutes tho. I mean what is so "frog" about them? _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Not that keen on the GF ones either, but then I've not liked the other "funny" models posted on various FF forums either. _________________ What the hell am I doing on a mini's forum? I DON'T PAINT!!!

When I show the partners the # of figures sold by model code ... Ramsay often comments .... "I cannot believe we've sold so many of XYZ model."
And there are some on our site that I think are great that sell very little. The Reptiliads being one example of this. And then others I'm amazed at how many we've sold.

What is wrong with them? I have a whole team (without staff). I think the problem with the Reptiliads is:
1) They are not painted. They would gain a lot painted.
2) They are in a section, down in the site, a little bit hidden.
I think if you change that, you could improve their situation.
Another idea to give them more importance would be to do a special offer (15% off) during one week... |

I agree with Mephisto concerning the Reptiliads. If I would see them painted I would maybe change my opinion about them. Recently, some Phigs' minis have been shown well painted on Impact! website and it really changed my opinion about them.
Moreover, they have, by me, some minor flaws which can put some potential customers (for example : me ) out of buying them :
-their metal sticked base
-their eccentric poses : some of these poses are well done according to me but there's IMHO a lack of more classical poses for these minis so it's difficult to have a complete team of reptiliads easy to use for FF.
That said, Reptiliads are in the Side Impact Minis section. So this is only a bonus. I don't mind about some Side Impact Minis not suiting to me, that doesn't change my great opinion about Impact! minis. _________________ http://lorie-raffarin.labrute.fr/ |

my bad.. I told Tom I would paint the team and after doing the coach, apo and cheerleaders, I gave up...
nothing to do with the minis themselves (I think they are great scuplts although I agree some of the poses are not ideal for the kind of games we play) just that like many painters, I lose interest in a project quite quickly.. I have probably started dozens of teams and only ever finished a handful..
so if anyone wants to volunteer to paint up the team (keep the fuscia and blue colour scheme though) I don't think Tom would object in the slightest...

I'll have the multi-part humans done soon. And I really believe they have more potential than Tom estimates.
They were a lot of fun to assemble, and they are SOOOOOOO conversion friendly!
It would make my year to see Impact release more mutant parts for them.
Animal heads (including frogs) could be part of the sprue(s). _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

I couldn't agree more, they need to be painted and listed as a team with the other teams in the "ELFBALL TEAM MINIATURES" section rather than in the "SIDE IMPACT MINIS" section.

Weapons sprues should be added to that list please! (Along with more torso and head sprues with a varitey of helmet styles!) Same for the Heresy Ogre, other torso and leg options for them would help a lot to increase potential variations. . . _________________ Thom. . .

Ooh, nice... I'm looking forward to seeing what someone else has done with them! Truth be told, one of the reasons why I didn't make more of an effort to get back to painting mine was that, in the end, I'm not sure how happy I am with some of my conversions -- I think I could do a much better job, knowing what I know now. In fact, I've even had the odd thought here and there of perhaps selling them off and then getting a new team's worth and starting over... although who knows how long it would be before that ever happened, if I decided to go that route.
Plus, I'd have to put together a few more before I sold them, anyway -- Elfball players would probably be fine with the 12 I have made already, but I'm guessing I could probably expand my potential market if I added another, oh, say about 4 or so! |

I have 8 pet frogs and have had frogs around all my life.
The Goblin forge ones are laughable.
Yes I know that I have converted Eureka frogs that are comical. But at least those are consistent in their style. The Goblin forge ones are all over the place. They are atrocious.
I have no idea how you would do frogs from Kroot, but would love to see what people have done/intend to do (photos help)
To be honest, the limited edition Frogman that you guys have already done is outstanding, both in proportions/appearance. A whole team of them would have been bloody brilliant and would have sold through the roof no doubt.
I respect the decision not to make a whole team, but am bitterly, bitterly disappointed that you won't.
I know you are releasing sprues to help do Kroot ones, but really... as good as I'm sure they will be, they will pale in comparision to what a whole team would have looked like.
Oh well.
Ben.
PS. I agree that the Reptiliads should be moved to the Impact team area and the painted team that you just got done Tom will surely boost sales! Good luck!
