I'm working my way through this list for new music (new as in I haven't heard it before.)
http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/steveparker/1001albums.htm
I'm at 134/1001 atm. But I've slowed down a lot recently as my free time evaporates in the Autumn/winter time.
Without that list I would never have listened to Hole, The Flaming Lips, Kings of Leon, Sigur Rós and The Cure (to pull a few examples out.) |

No, the difference being that one was a great rock group of talented musicians and the other is a bloated, self absorbed, perpetual re-mixer of crap that once only took up space in the background of great tracks.
That's like saying eating a bowl of A-1 sauce is like eating a steak.
Sorry...I just feel strongly about this. I bought Make Them Die Slowly in 89 and was pushing that band into the ears of everyone I knew for a very long time, only to have them break out just long enough for Rob to pull a "Johnny Bravo" on his band mates.
The second Rob Zombie runs out of 60's B movies to play samples from while beats that Sean put together are remixed ad nauseum he'll move to a different media and begin ripping off other people...
...oops too late!
Sorry for my rant. It just sucks when people you admire turn out to be assholes. _________________ "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Right now - after having spent the best part of the day with a bunch of kids with ADHD and the rest of the day with my own three kids I'm listening to silence, to absolutely NOTHING.
Best music in the world right now |
