For a while now one of my favorite Mini sources, discounthobby.com has been missing. A few weeks ago I learned they had changed their name (Still same owners) to MegaMinis.com which links directly to their eBay store.

I was happy to find that they still had most of their original inventory and had infact expanded. An exchange of emails with the owner revealed they had continualy had problems with internet service, sight maint and high hit counts. After going through a number of different service providers they finaly gave up and went eBay exclusive, low and behold they grew, sales increased dramaticly and they began buying up other small suppliers who were failing. Makes you wonder if the whole world is going eBay. . .

Anyway, despite that long ramble, they are the only source of BooBarians now. Whilst cogitating about cheerleaders that mini line came to mind, sure enough they still had them and I quickly bought up a bunch in a variety of poses at clearance prices. (They cast to min inventory)

A bit more study of their catalog revealed that they are selling off many of their molds! Sales include all masters and remaining inventory for $99 each (Avg) on the 9" spin molds.

While most are actually 25mm scale, many might be suitable for use as side line figures, fans & support staff ect.  It might be worth the effort for Impact! to take a look at whats available. . .

Well it's always been my humble opinion that Impact should cut into the Warhammer/Mordheim/Dungeons & Dragons minis game (especially if they make dungeon ball/crawl tiles.

IMHO:

The good (irregardless of Elfball)- The Elven Dark Lord (mounted and unmounted), the Gandalf looking Wizard (mounted and unmounted), all of the Bretonnian guys, The Male Cleric, Female Wizard & Familiar, Monk swinging staff (begs to have a pennant on it!), all of the Chaos Knights, Magician Summoning, the Dwarfs labels 1008E-1008N (basically of the models on page 6 of the PDF), Dwarf Death Mask, Dwarf Moon Shield, Dwarf Drummer, Dwarf Standing Ground, and the metal square bases for changing them to square bases. I really like those! That would make basing Reaper minis so much easier! I also like the Elf Mage and the Elf Wizard,

The bad- The minotaurs are goofy looking and out of proportion, the cavemen look like Chaka, the goblins look stupid rather than sneaky, Vampira is hideous looking, the topless women are not only cheesy and offensive but ugly and anything but sexy (if Impact sold minis like that I would be very turned off).

All the rest IMO is decent but average. There are better examples of the figure elsewhere, namely reaper so to compete Impact would have to sell them cheaper.

At any rate most of the ones that are listed in my "good" category I would say are comparable to anything reaper or citadel has and if they were the same price (or cheaper in citadel's case) I would definitely buy them.

Impact have invested in some of these moulds and will be making suitable conversions to some of these minis in order to sell them for the Elfball market.  Don't expect anything this year though..

Rest assured any which currently are under-dressed will be more suitably attired before they hit the Impact! store..

Just to be clear, I have no problem with nudity or nude minis in general. Just that I am a married adult man with sisters and nieces and I get tired of seeing women in the fantasy/sci-fi genres portrayed as hollow sex objects.

Sexy is cool. Juvenile misogyny is not.

Black Widows and Valkyries are sexy; although I put pants on mine.   "Amazongas" and slutty nuns are are not.

The Topless minis are the last remaining of the old "Boobarian" line which featured Guthrie and Garrity sculpts amongst others.

Yeah they are cheesey, but that didn't stop me from buying some of the topless dwarven females for conversion to cheerleaders. I may even leave them with their hammers instead of trying to add pompoms as that seems so perfectly dwarflike!! Same for the one with the roast pig on a spit. . .

The price was so low!

Hey what about those square bases with insets?

Maybe Impact doesn't want those in particular but what about 20mm (and larger) circle bases with insets for stuff Reaper's Dark Heaven minis?

Cutting the 'grass lump' off and around toes is one of my least favorite parts of mini painting. It would be awesome to have a base I could just plunk a mini into and fill with putty to fix the problem.

Sorry DL we just don't have the funds.  We don't really have the funds to buy the 2 moulds from them that we did.  We are going to store them away in a safe place to break out when cash is more available.

We purchased the following 2 Boobarian moulds and masters.

The Giantess.  She just looks like the type that with a 10,000 FF Centaur Raquel Welch conversion and the lose of the weapon would be a great figure maybe even working as a nice dodgey ogress type that would be comfortable throwing down with some males Ogres on the field or even a bunch of blood thirsty amazonions.

The other mould we purchased was the Vampiress.

=====

Bottom line ... this is as close as Impact! is probably going to get to have a Sandra Garrity figure in our store ... so this was an iron to strike while hot.

Thanks Thom.

Sorry that the Dwarves you like just don't interest the Impact! 3 my friend.  But we appreciate the heads up on this ... we've purchased many of the moulds and greens that folks have pointed out to us as being for sale.

WoooHoo! I am glad you found something you like sir!    I also purchased one of the Vampiress just to have just in case I could find a use for her!

The Garrity Giantess rocks, one of the best figures in the series in my opinion.

Wanted to update this.

We also bought the 2 Dwarves after talking with Ramsay at GenCon and Ramsay has already cleaned them up for sale.

Those are in fact at the caster now to have new production moulds made.

The other 2 (the Giantess and Vampiress) are with a sculptor for revision.
