Mine will be photo'd tomorrow. They are done but for the naga's grass and the Tantor's grass and a few incidental touch ups. They will be finished tonight...or maybe today if no games go on.

I will have them in the mail tomorrow.

I'm not a tyrant.

A day late should be fine ... just want to make sure I have them for the GenCon display.

I have to admit your paintjob of the Naga Widowmaker is quickly growing on me.

Really fits in great with the team.

I had in my mind that the snake body would be green ... but the blue looks better each time I see the pic and get my preconceptions out of my head.

DL, I'm always impressed that you take references from nature itself.  Not limiting yourself to them, but starting there.  As a Natural Science major it's nice to see.  Where you manage to find them all the time is a bit of a mystery. Guess:  google images.

Thanks for your nice words.

Great job Fen! I really love that hippo (so does my daughter). The cheatah is nice as well. The mantis definitely looks like a Dr. Who monster, but you did a good job on him.

Lovely work as always, Fen!

Mine are going to be finished up over this weekend and mailed out to Tom on Monday -- a little bit late by the original date, but I'd talked to Tom and had already worked this out a week and a half ago, so it's OK.  Tom, you should actually be receiving them on 31st as discussed.

And the slight delay has an advantage because I'd been planning on doing my two Siringit with green pads and yellow loincloths to match actual Packer uniforms, as I'd mentioned a few pages back.  But seeing as both DL and Fen went the other way with yellow pads and green cloths, I'll do mine to match (and those were parts that weren't completely done yet, anyway, as I've been doing the skin/fur/faces/hooves&horns on both first, so it's not a big deal to switch them up).

mine shipped out last evening.  (DC# 0308 0070 0000 4394 5489 Tom).  I definitely took a different route with my snake woman than DL.  But sorry Tom, still no green body :)  I was unable to take pictures of my model (because I suck at photography and my camera  doesn't have the settings).  Hopefully Tom can get a couple up for me in between his Gencon rush and having a life outside of work.  I'll post my reference material after pictures.  I don't want to spoil first impressions (surprises are fun :).  I actually am looking forward to constructive criticism from this group.  I'll step up and admit that of the people that volunteered, I'll probably be the worse painter (I'm not bad, just not Fen, DL good).  So that being said, I'm fairly excited at having my first piece "on exhibit".  If pictures do get up, I would appreciate if you guys throw pointers at me and tell me what could be better.   All in all, I am pretty pleased with how my fig came out.

Couple of quick questions on the Mantid.  I think this is the first time we are seeing the fig (did I miss a preview thread?).  Does it have a "winged" body section that we just can't see on the back?  Did the same sculptor that did the other Siringit do that one?  I wondered, because to me, and only my opinion, the mantis isn't as good as the other Siringit.  I don't think it is bad, I just think the other Siringit are great and by comparison, it isn't in that league.

Great paintjobs on all the Gencon figs so far guys.  Nice work!

No

No its not the same sculptor.

The Mantis was done by PF while all the other Siringit were done by Clint Staples.   We are working with PF ... the rule for Targeted figures is that Ramsay is supposed to approve them before folks mail them to us.  But PF has this habit of sending us a figure that we've approved along with one that he didn't tell us is coming and we've never seen.   In this case he thought the Mantis Thrower would be a nice addition to the Siringit team since it only had one Thrower figure.   Its a Targeted Impact submission which means we didn't pay for the figure and PF will only make money based on its sales.   It will also not be sold as part of the team deal which will contain the 12 figures that Clint sculpted for us.

PF normally gives us incredible sculpts.  This one could have probably used Ramsay's suggestions for improvement before it was finished and shipped to us ... but that didn't happen here.   I'm 100% sure that the next major thing PF does for us after GenCon will impress you.

As a meager sculptor, I don't get on the forum enough these days with my house undergoing almost a full re-build as well.

But I just wanted to "tip my hat"  at the wizardry the painters do in bringing that extra little spark of life to the sculpts.

A sculpt that never gets painted is like a book that doesn't get read.  It's fantastic to see all the skills, and enjoyment up on show.

Anyway I'll be sculpting with a little more swagger tonight.  Kinda like a whistle while I work.

Regards

Gerald

Good point.  While the paint work itself is certainly top-notch as is, cheetahs do typically have more defined facial coloring:
