So I was asked to demo a game at a local game club's gamesday.  I choose Nuthin' But Net.  So any advice on how to demo the game?  I have about a month to learn how to play the game and be ready to teach others.  I'm also hoping to have a court made up and two teams of minis painted to attract more people to my table.

Since I've lost my job Bryan I find myself spending most of October finalizing getting new insurance, phone service, etc., etc.

I'm looking forward to the dust settling.

I've not had time to spend as much time for NBN as I wanted to ... so I wish I had more notes.  The creator of the game is on this forum so I'm really hoping he can give you some notes.

Tom

That's great that you're wanting to demo NBN.
There are a few things that I found helpful when I was teaching new players here.

* A custom half court really attracts a lot of attention - as do painted figures

* Choose teams that are easier to play: Humans, Orcs, Goblins, Elves, Kermtians or Beastmen. Rat are very fast, Reptilians are great shooters and Dwarfs are very slow - they are harder to play or play against. Kobolds (in the free supplement) are harder to play - more players on the court, but much weaker. Plantmen and Skeletons aren't ready yet.

* Have reference cards available for the two teams you are using to demo  (I'm happy to help you with that if you need it)

* Have a spare book handy for people to flick through while waiting for a game

* Have two sets of different coloured dice, so there is no confusion

* Quickly demonstrate shooting, passing and setting a pick/block as these are the most commonly used actions.

* Don't introduce the Intimidating when checking the ball until a few points in - with all the fluid movement and multiple actions, its just one extra thing to worry about.

* Only play to 11 points - as 21 points can take a while when first learning the game.

* You could start each team with a bonus die to help the game start off with a bang.

* You don't have to introduce injuries or fouls until you're a few points in.

There's some ideas to help you out. If you need any help, just let me know. If you are wanting to use the reference card idea as well, I'm happy to whip some up and then if you use painted minis, if you send me some photos, I can insert them on the cards too.

I hope you have fun learning and playing the game and that your demo goes well!

Cheers,
Ben
